Getting Out Of Your Own Way
Why do 97% of writers never finish writing their book?
With all the free writing resources available, including online courses, books, podcasts, and blogs, why are so many people not able to finish, let alone start their book?
Does the following sound familiar?
You wake up early in the morning, ready and excited to begin writing. You tell yourself, Today I will start writing my book. Im going to be so productive! Yet, hours later, you find yourself sitting at your desk staring at a blank screen, with no idea where to begin. You have no inspiring ideas coming to you.
Next thing you know, youre googling anything and everything about your topic, which can lead to getting stuck in never-ending research. The days turn into weeks, and then months. Meanwhile, you havent made any progress on your writing.
You feel lost, helpless, and frustrated. Your morale and motivation hit an all-time low.
Fear and doubt start to creep in. You begin to tell yourself, This is a stupid idea anyway. No one will want to read my book.
And so you put your ideas on an imaginary shelf to collect dust.
The biggest mistake that all new writers make is waiting for inspiration to come to them, when in fact, they need to chase inspiration.
In this book I uncover the one motivator that all successful authors have in common. Its the one thing that has helped millions of writers start and finish writing their books. Its what has helped me and the eighteen other authors Ive interviewed for this book to reach the finish line with our books.
What holds you back?
You may have been writing for months and months but have been making little to no progress. I went through this for years. This cycle of excitement and then getting stuck always left me in doubt. As a result, I began to ask myself,
Am I good enough to write a book?
Who am I to write a book anyway?
What if nobody likes what I have to say?
What are my family and friends going to think?
Somebody has already written about my topic. Do I have anything worthwhile to add to it?
Maybe you have a deep fear of what your family and friends are going to think about your writing. Will you be judged by them? Or perhaps theres a fear of being judged by your peers in your industry.
These doubts and fears can hold you back from sharing your message and making an impact in the world.
What will you get from this book?
After reading this book, you will feel inspired and motivated to write your book. Despite the challenges, setbacks, and failures you may experience, you can persevere and succeed in sharing your story.
When writing their first book, everyone has fears and doubts. Its about moving forward despite those fears.
Thats why I interviewed eighteen authors and asked them what inspired them to write their first book.
Many of the authors youll meet are transformational leaders, coaches, and entrepreneurs that have unique messages and perspectives on how they overcame their fears and challenges in writing their books.
Youll also learn
- Your sense of purpose can be the biggest driver in finishing your book.
- How writing is not just about you but about the people you want to serve.
- The importance of having courage to share your unique story with the world.
- How your books success will be measured by its impactnot how many dollars it makes.
And so much more.
Why did I write this book?
Books have always been my biggest source of inspiration. I love learning and reading the stories of others who have struggled with the same problems I struggle with. Just knowing that someone else has gone on a similar journey helps me feel connected and know that Im not alone.
Books have completely transformed my life, and Im always grateful and thankful for the authors that had the courage to share their stories. If it wasnt for their inspiration, I wouldnt be as successful as I am in my life.
That sentiment is what inspired me to write my first book back in 2016. I felt it was my turn to give back to the world that had given me so much. It was not easy, and I faced many roadblocks getting started, but I finally finished it. After that, I went on to write a second book, which became an Amazon Bestseller!
Now that I am a book writing coach, I see those same fears and doubts in the eyes of my clients who share their dream to write a book. They all have mental blocks holding them back from writing. Thats why I created this book: for you to have several mentors in the palm of your hand. Whenever you feel discouraged or unmotivated to write, you can turn to the story of the authors struggles and their triumph over them, and find inspiration to stay the course. Writing may be a solo project, but it doesnt have to be a lonely project.
The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

There Is No Straight Path To Finding Your Purpose
You dont need to be great to get started but you do need to get started to be great.

Before I share my writing journey for all of the authors Ive interviewed, I want to tell you a little bit about my own path to writing my first book.
When Inspiration Strikes
Back in 2016, I had reached a crossroad in my life. I had a good high-paying finance job and I was living in a nice apartment and traveling the world. Looking from the outside in, you would think I had everything I wanted.
Whats there to complain?
But the truth was, I was not happy. I was miserable and felt unfulfilled in my job. I didnt understand why I felt that way.
After all, Im an African immigrant who moved to the USA to live the American dream. I accomplished what I had dreamed about since I was young kid. My dream was that one day I would come to America, graduate from college, and start my career. I achieved all of that and was lucky enough to work for the largest companies in the world including Ameriprise, Wells Fargo, Accenture, and more.
Having accomplished what I set out to do, I still felt something was missing. I couldnt figure out what that was. Why was I not happy? I knew that I was grateful for the position that I was in but it didnt help to fill the emptiness.
I had so many questions, but I had no answers for them. It was only a matter of time before one day I would need to make a change. Well, that day came in September of 2016.
It was a busy month at my job where working fifty to sixty-hour weeks was normal. I was burdened with a heavy workload, emails piling up, and working like a dog to keep up. I remember feeling frustrated and angry with also a sense of hopelessness. I was not passionate about my job but I had no idea as to what I would love to do. I was stuck.
