A Year of Mystical Thinking: summary, description and annotation

We offer to read an annotation, description, summary or preface (depends on what the author of the book "A Year of Mystical Thinking" wrote himself). If you haven't found the necessary information about the book — write in the comments, we will try to find it.

Discover the magic of todays most popular spiritual practices in this fresh and funny account of embracing a year full of astrology, reiki, crystals and more! Introducing Emma Howarth: lifestyle journalist turned soul-seeker. Writing with humour and curiosity, Emma shows us that we dont need to fly to Italy, India or Bali to have an adventure and find inner peace - theres plenty of magic right on our doorstep. At the end of 2017, feeling burnt out and broken, Emma decided to go on a year-long quest for inner peace - from the comfort of her own home. She tried all sorts of spiritual practices in a bid to derive more meaning from life. The result was a year that changed everything. A year that turned frantic chaos into life in the slow lane. A year of magic and moonlight and pink sky sunrises. A year fragranced with incense and burning herbs (that sometimes smelled suspiciously illegal). In A Year of Mystical Thinking, Emma shares her sparkling and fun account of the year that transformed her life and demystifies the world of new age spirituality, helping you to find practices that will bring new meaning and joy to your life. Each month Emma introduces a new spiritual practice, with practical, actionable tips - from how to create the perfect vision board to living by the phases of the Moon. Follow Emmas journey as she connects with spirit guides in February, obsesses over astrology in July and learns about Reiki in November, and be inspired to embark on your own year of mystical thinking!

Ever had one of those years Havent we all Ever wished you could run away - photo 4

Ever had one of those years?

Havent we all?

Ever wished you could run away? Step off the hamster wheel? Start over? Or escape to a far-flung corner of the planet in search of inner peace?

Sometimes it feels as if modern life has got us over a barrel.

Do this. Wear that. Be this but not that. Work harder. Run faster. Get thinner. Live better. Stand in line. Wait your turn. De-clutter. Fix your hair. Look younger. Be happier. Go to therapy. Speak the truth, but not that truth. Earn more. Buy more. Save up. Splash out. Dont stop. Try harder. Get up. Go out. Shouldnt you be recycling that?

Be cool. Be kind. Be quiet. Dont be boring. Dont let yourself down. Dont show yourself up. Have some wine to take the edge off. Do your bit. Make a difference. Quit while youre ahead. Save up for a rainy day. Stop slacking. Keep working. Finish what you started. And dont forget to smile.

Exhausted? Me too. Slip in a stressful life event and its easy for the whole charade to come tumbling down. Burnout here we come.

But what if it didnt have to be that way? What if we could break the spell?

What if we could make life feel magical again?

And what if that magic felt modern and cool, fun and easy, exciting and accessible? What if you didnt need to go on a month-long silent retreat or shell out for a motivational self-help seminar? What if you asked the universe for your hearts desire and the universe obliged? What if you tried to understand yourself better and actually liked what you found? What if you let something go and something better appeared in its place? What if you trusted your intuition and found out it was right? What if you learnt how to cast a spell and understand the stars?

What if you found inner peace right where you are? No one-way ticket to paradise required
