In his inspired work, Inner Journey to the East, Enlightened Freemason founder George R Adams 33 Grand Cross brings to life the light behind Masonic symbology of the first three degrees and inspires us to discover and dedicate our lives to the further evolution of consciousness within ourselves.
To the Mason and the Mason-at-heart, this Trilogy presents a spiritual interpretation of the universal message of Freemasonry as well as the authors vision of the changes facing the Craft in the new Millennium.
Book I is the authors interpretation of the inner message of Freemasonry and the stages of unfoldment of the individual Freemason in his search for enlightenment.
Book II is arranged to reflect in poetic form the inner subjective journey through these stages of unfoldment and to express in varying degrees the subjective elements of wisdom, immortal life, and love found within every individual.
Book III briefly traces the current global power shift and how these changes relate to the Craft. The author has also included a case study with the hope that it will take the reader from the theoretical to the real. The Trilogy is written with the Mason in mind; however, the non-Mason will benefit from its message since we are all, Masons and non-Masons, travelers on the path of light.

Invocation
Freemasons are taught that:
Man, before engaging in any great or important undertaking, should always invoke the blessing of Deity.
Let us pray:
Thou Supreme Architect of the Universe, Creator, Projector and Sustainer of all that exists, I humbly place this offering on Thy sacred altar for Thy guidance and illumination. Each word has been taken in its rude and imperfect state from the quarry of my mind and heart and tested with the working tools of our Craft with the sincere hope that this book will benefit all who journey from West to East in search of Thy Supreme Light. O Lord, should you find this work worthy, I humbly ask that it be spiritualized with Thy divine wisdom, blessed with Thy divine love and sent to those who would benefit by it most. Amen.
So Mote It Be.

Foreword
I consider it a real privilege to have been asked by my friend and Masonic Brother, George R. Adams, to present to you the introduction to this Trilogy of Masonic inspiration. I have had the opportunity to work with George in many different fields and it is, without a doubt, a sincere pleasure to share with you my love for Freemasonry.
This mighty Order called Freemasonry is about to enter its third millennium and I am proud to say that as Grand Master we are preparing to enter this new century with hope and eagerness. You will find no better members of an organization anywhere than the Freemasons in the free world today; these men who are Asian, Hispanic, Black or White hail from diverse religions and include Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Christians, Mormons, and Jews. It is not the educational background, but the character and reputation of the prospective Mason that forms the basis for our bonding with these men of good will in the spirit of Universal Brotherhood!
I had the honor to review this book prior to its release and found the Trilogy as written not to be in conflict with any of our rites or otherwise in violation of the Masonic Law of our Order or of the Code of the Grand Lodge of the District of Columbia. In my final report to the Grand Lodge, I reported that I had found no violations of our rules and regulations in Brother Adams words of inspiration.
I would like to have had these works at my disposal during my earlier years in Masonry. I have found them to be
vii
FOREWORD
a source of inspiration and enlightenment and sincerely believe that there would have been times when reflection on one or more of their passages would have raised me to a higher, fairer state of mind.
You will find that we as Freemasons tend to search for enlightenment and this book is a source of such light (or knowledge). The information you will find in the words of Brother Adams Trilogy will assist the Mason, intrigue the future candidate, and inform and educate the nonMason. For those of you who do not support our ideals and precepts, the Trilogy will serve to enlighten you to a better understanding of Freemasonry.
You should be aware that when you look back over the years you will find Masonic influences in many areas of history. The Presidential Oath, the Oath of Citizenship, the Bill of Rights, the Constitution and so much, much more. Today, you will find Master Masons in the worlds of industry, religion, service, the arts, science, and philanthropy, just to name a few!
I invite you to consider the words presented before you. Reflect on their meaning and learn from our brother. If you are not a Mason, and would like more information, please contact the Grand Lodge in your local area, and they will see to it that you receive contact with Masons in your area. I hope that you enjoy your contact with them and share your newly acquired contact with others.
Yours for the betterment and understanding of our fraternity, I remain
Sincerely and fraternally,

Dedication
I dedicate this book to three Master Masons:
First, I dedicate this book in loving memory of the former Chaplain of Benjamin B. French Lodge #15, Illustrious Brother Swami Premananda, 33rd Degree, who has journeyed on to the Celestial Lodge and who signed my petition into Freemasonry. Illustrious Brother Premananda has been a guiding light in my life, and without reservation, he represents to me the highest and noblest example of what it means to be a Master Mason.
Secondly, I dedicate this book in honor of my close friend and brother, Most Worshipful and Illustrious Brother Jerold J. Samet, 33rd Degree, Past Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of the District of Columbia 1992, who has unselfishly and tirelessly devoted his life to DeMolay, Freemasonry, Youth Leaders International (now Leaders International) and his fellowman and who continues to further the cause of global Freemasonry through his many contacts and charitable outreaches throughout the world. Most Worshipful Brother Samet was Grand Treasurer of the Grand Lodge of the District of Columbia at the time this book was written, Past Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of the District of Columbia, Past Grand Master of the Order of DeMolay and Chairman of the Board and Trustee of Youth Leaders International. Most Worshipful Brother Samet embodies the highest realization of the ideal of brotherly love and service to humanity and to our Craft.
Thirdly, I dedicate this book as a token of my brotherly love and high esteem for our late Illustrious and Worshipful Brother Bernard E. Shultz, 33rd Degree, affectionately known by his friends and the young men and women of Youth Leaders International as "Uncle Bernie." Worshipful
DEDICATION
Brother Shultz, a former high ranking official in the United States government, was appointed Grand Chancellor of the Grand Lodge of the District of Columbia in 1999. During his lifetime in his quiet, intelligent and unassuming manner, he provided personal and financial support to countless individuals and charities including, among many others, DeMolay, Eagle Scouts, Bnai Brith and Youth Leaders International. Uncle Bernie was a man of tremendous clarity of mind in his daily activities, impeccable integrity in his relationships with his fellowman, unwavering dedication to his personal values and a deep spiritual commitment to the ideals of Freemasonry and our Craft.
