When you are attempting to obtain answers to your prayers and to be directed by the Lord, you need to learn to follow the promptings of the Spirit. Those promptings will help you know what the Lord requires of you as you seek the blessing. They will help you know what to pray for and where to go from there. The Spirits promptings will also tell you as you go along how much more faith you may need to exercise in order to accomplish your desire. You may have promptings telling you what you need to repent of, how to draw closer to the Lord, specific steps toward the blessing, and so forth. In sum, the Lord will guide you through the experience if you will seek to follow the promptings he gives you.

To be able to grow in personal revelation, we need to recognize how God has been speaking to us already. He has been, and is, in all the details of our lives, big and small. By reflecting on personal revelation from the past, we can see patterns and better understand how God is leading us individually to Him. Through the act of pondering and remembering, not only will we better understand our relationship with our loving Father, our progress can become more purposeful. We will increase in gratitude for His abounding love and our hearts will be open to knowing that we are all part of the wondrous works of God.

By the power of the Spirit our eyes were opened and our understandings were enlightened, so as to see and understand the things of God.

We can exercise more faith in the love our Heavenly Father has for us by cultivating our capacity to receive personal revelation. Ponder on the small ways God is telling you of His love and desire to communicate with you. Open your heart to understand how you can increase that capacity.

As you struggle with feelings of unworthiness, then, feeling youre not good enough or that you dont measure up, remember that the Lord doesnt require us to be perfect or near perfect before hell give us answers to prayers. He wants to give us answers to help us along that long path to perfection. But he does require us to askand not just to ask once and be done with it, but to ask over and over again, with true desire and persistence.

How can I ask my questions of the Lord in a different way?

It is so hard when sincere prayer about something we desire very much is not answered the way we want. It is especially difficult when the Lord answers no to that which is worthy and would give us great joy and happiness. Whether it be overcoming illness or loneliness, recovery of a wayward child, coping with a handicap, or seeking continuing life for a dear one who is slipping away, it seems so reasonable and so consistent with our happiness to have a favorable answer. It is hard to understand why our exercise of deep and sincere faith from an obedient life does not bring the desired result.... Ask, What am I to do? What am I to learn from this experience? What am I to change? Whom am I to help? How can I remember my many blessings in times of trial?

Our lives are like a chessboard, and the Lord moves us from one place to anotherif we are responsive to spiritual promptings. Looking back, we can see His hand in our lives.
