Hello, our sister,
We, Stephanie and Michele, met on a Bible project many years ago. Since then we have been real sisters in faith. We have seen each other through the ups and downs of our lives, shared our dreams and our desires, worked together, played together, wondered what God had in store for us together, and sometimes had disagreements. But Christ has always been at the center of our relationship as we each make choices that take us closer to Him and make us more like Him.
The Sisters in Faith brand is an extension of our relationship. We want to see all of our sisters reach out to one another and their families to establish Christ-centered relationships, to develop their own self-worth through the eyes of a God that loves them, to strive for God purposed careers; and most of all to develop a closer walk with Jesus.
Sisters in Faith was created to provide tools to encourage and empower African American women in Gods Word, but we also invite all women to hear our hearts. She Speaks is one of those tools; it is designed to demonstrate how inclusive Gods Word is. The women who are presented in the Old and New Testaments are not there by accident, nor are they there just to be wallpaper to the men in the Bible. If you read their stories, you will quickly see that God loved them, He spoke to them, He called them, He taught them, He used them, He honored them, He blessed them, and He demonstrated many Kingdom principles through their lives. We hope that the message of their lives encourages and empowers you!
May the Lord bless you!

Thank you, Jesus! I am so grateful for the desire You have planted in my heart and the opportunity to write You have provided. I only want to do your will and make You known to as many people as I can.
Thank you, Thomas Nelson, for wanting to present the hearts of African American, Christian women and to reach our communities; specifically, I want to thank Heather McMurray and Alee Anderson for catching the vision right away and saying yes to almost everything Stephanie and I wanted to do; and Bob Sanford, you will always be my friend and mentor. Gary Davidson, a good work that you began will continue to be to your credit. Brenda Noel and Dawn Sherrill of Echo Creative Media, thank you for being the best editors and friends a writer could have. To Keren Heath, for your excerpts from the Place of Honor feature from the Sisters in Faith Devotional Bible, I send my appreciation. To my partner, Stephanie, you are in this with me, and we have so much more to do for Gods Kingdom. I cant wait to see what He has for us next.
To my big sisters: Judy Clark, Karen Clark, and Marcia McEntyre, I send real love for introducing me to the concept of sisterhood. No matter how far away we are from each other, or how long it has been since weve seen each other, we have a shared family experience that snaps right back whenever we are together. Thank you to my own girls: Winnie, Abi, and Kymi, for singing that silly song you made up, Sisters, Sisters, we are Sisters as you swayed together, arms around each other and giggling. It lets me know that you will stay close no matter what. Thank you to my husband, Kym Jenkins, for protecting my time so I could write these pages.
I also want to note that my oldest daughter, Winnie, designed the beautiful pages of this book. Kate Mulvaney, the Art Director on this project, worked hard to bring this cover to what it is. My thanks to them all.
The fifty women presented in She Speaks all lived in very different times and places than where we, as modern women, dwell. But every one of their lives can be a beacon to our own, in this modern day, through Gods timeless Word. Their stories begin in a first person telling, so they can personalize their lives for you. The remaining format will help you understand where and why they were placed in Gods Word. I have even highlighted the women from our own heritage, so you will see that women who looked like us were part of Gods plan.
Following each story are the references to these women in the King James Version of the Bible. I encourage you to always let what I write lead you to read Gods Word for yourself. Even though Ive tried to tell their stories in a convenient format, nobody can tell it better than God!
If you will, when youve finished reading each story and scripture, ask God to show you what He has for you to learn from that womans life. I am praying that His revelations to you are life changing.
I will continue to keep you in my prayers, my sister. Please keep me in yours.
Blessings & Honor,
Michele Clark Jenkins
I AM
Eve
And the rib, which the Lord
God had taken from man,
made he a woman, and
brought her unto the man.
Genesis 2:22
I was the first woman. I was in that beautiful garden named Eden and I was not alone. I had Adam, to whom I was a helpmate, and I had God. God was my Father and He was good to me and provided for all of my needs.
However, I just didnt understand why God told Adam He didnt want us to taste the fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. I grew more and more curious. Then we got company. It was a snake; and it spoke to me questions that sounded much like my own. But he took it even further, saying God just didnt want Adam and me to rise to His level. He told me that if we ate from the tree, we would be as God. He told us we would not die if we ate the forbidden fruit, although God told us that we would.
