OVER THE YEARS there have been many words that have crossed my mind when attempting to define my sister, Cora Jakes Coleman. In my life her roles have fluctuated between best friend, beloved adversary, protagonist, partner in crime, tutor, babysitter, number one supporterthe list goes on and on. But as we have both emerged into the fullness of womanhood, there is one role she has consistently embraced with power and authority: prayer warrior.

When I was just a little girl whose timid prayers were laced with insecurity and doubt, my sister would pray with said power and authority until it forced my unvoiced skepticism into divine submission. I believe her commitment to prayer has been the hum that pulled our family through troubled waters.

Simply stated, Cora prays for heaven to touch earth. She could rightfully and decidedly choose to become the type of person people come to when they need someone to carry a prayer to Gods ear, but she has chosen to expand heavens ability to touch earth by depositing within each of us the knowledge and technique necessary for us all to war with prayer.

There will be moments in your life when it seems you have exhausted all possible resources. Those are the times when you must choose either to give in to the temptation to acquiesce to a life of despair and darkness or to fight until the flicker of hope in your soul becomes the light at the end of the tunnel.
