INTRODUCTION
When I first began reading Think and Grow Rich and applying its principles in earnest, I discovered something simple and profound. I discovered that when I read Think and Grow Rich every day, and in turn applied what I had read every day to my life, I experienced more success. When I didnt do those things every day, I experienced less success. This may not seem like news to anyone else, but this simple fact changed my life completely.
Up until that realization, I had read portions of the book, tried out a few of the suggestions that Napoleon Hill mentioned in the text, and even went as far as creating my Statement of Desire, though I didnt feel the need to read it twice each day, as he instructs. I was more sporadic in my gestures, and the lack of results showed my lack of commitment. As the saying goes, half measures avail us nothingand that certainly was my experience. At that time, I was someone who believed in wishing and hoping for success, without putting in the required effort to contribute to it.
But as Napoleon Hill teaches over and over, You cant get something for nothing. So I decided to commit fully to the principles found in Think and Grow Rich and see where they took me.
When I committed myself to reading the book every day and doing everything that was suggested in the spirit with which Napoleon Hill wrote the book, everything began to change for me. I began to experience success almost immediately. Why? Because as Napoleon Hill suggests in his groundbreaking book Think and Grow Rich, when we are active in our lives each and every day, we become engaged in our lives. When we are engaged, we can choose to affect our lives each day, and in doing so we automatically affect every day that follows. Those who are not engaged daily in their own lives do not have that same experience.
In the years since I first discovered the joy of Think and Grow Rich, I have read the book many times and worked with Master Mind groups and Master Mind partners as well as taught the principles to hundreds of people in Think and Grow Rich workshops. I also delighted in Napoleon Hills other magnum opus, The Law of Success , which contains many of the same ideas, as well as other concepts that are congruent with Think and Grow Rich. Out of all of this experience that my Master Mind partner, August Gold, and I have had with the principles came two projects. The first, The Think and Grow Rich Workbook, a companion to the original Think and Grow Rich, contains exercises that help readers begin to apply the suggestions of Think and Grow Rich to their own lives. And now comes Think and Grow Rich Every Day, which is a way to take the inspiration from Think and Grow Rich and The Law of Success and reap from these treasures daily.
A few notes about Think and Grow Rich Every Day before you begin reading. First, all the material in Think and Grow Rich Every Day comes from the original and public domain editions of Think and Grow Rich (1937) and The Law of Success (1928). We have, however, made very slight punctuation and other grammatical alterations and condensations so that the text will make more sense when read in daily inspirational portions. Napoleon Hill wrote this material nearly a century ago, both during and after the Great Depression, and the language of that era including the use of masculine pronouns and examplesis somewhat different from that of today. Weve left most of this untouched, including occasional antiquated references or word choices, or the use of capital letters or italics to emphasize certain words or phrases, with just a few minor adjustments for clarity.
One powerful way to read through this material is to pick one major principle and study it for an entire month. However, there are thirteen principles in Think and Grow Rich and only twelve months in the year. We decided to combine two of the shorter chapters of Think and Grow RichThe Subconscious Mind and The Braininto one month of study. In addition, since the material is so important, weve added sections of How to Outwit the Six Ghosts of Fear to the December principle of the Sixth Sense. Think and Grow Rich Every Day is meant to compliment the original texts, not replace them. If you find yourself interested in any particular idea or principle in Think and Grow Rich Every Day, we encourage you to go to Think and Grow Rich and The Law of Success for more exploration of Napoleon Hills philosophy and to see the text in its original form.
In Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill asks readers to take six practical steps that will transmute desires into riches. These steps are key to Think and Grow Rich, and so weve put them at the beginning of this daily guide in the section weve titled Your Six Steps to Success. Read through the six steps, do what they suggest, and then create your Statement of Desire (see page 11). Once youve set down your goal and intentions in writing, the daily readings will help you reach your goal.
Think and Grow Rich has sold millions of copies and has remained in print and on bestseller lists since its original publication in 1937. Why? Because the philosophy it contains has worked for so many people. Now it is time for you to be inspired daily!

YOUR SIX STEPS TO SUCCESS
from Think and Grow Rich
by Napoleon Hill

The method by which desire for riches can be transmuted into its financial equivalent consists of six definite, practical steps:
FIRST. Fix in your mind the exact amount of money you desire. It is not sufficient merely to say, I want plenty of money. Be definite as to the amount.
SECOND. Determine exactly what you intend to give in return for the money you desire. (There is no such reality as something for nothing.)
THIRD. Establish a definite date when you intend to possess the money you desire.
FOURTH. Create a definite plan for carrying out your desire, and begin at once, whether you are ready or not, to put this plan into action.
FIFTH. Write out a clear, concise statement of the amount of money you intend to acquire, name the time limit for its acquisition, state what you intend to give in return for the money, and describe clearly the plan through which you intend to accumulate it.
SIXTH. Read your written statement aloud, twice daily, once just before retiring at night, and once after arising in the morning. As you readsee and feel and believe yourself already in possession of the money.
The instructions given in connection with the six steps will now be summarized, and blended with the principles as follows:
