Although at many times in recent human history societies have faced huge hurdles and felt they are unique in doing so, there are questionably few instances that compare with the challenges faced by leaders today. The present health crisis notwithstanding, the all-encompassing climate and natural world crises are monumental in scale as are many societal, belief system and political ones. The Integrated Leader, with immaculate timing and even better articulation, puts forward an argument for the only type of leadership that will now make a difference. It calls upon polymath leaders who simply put can and do connect the dots for positive outcomes, and do so at a time when the dots are big, complex, overlapping, and impacting billions of fellow humans and the vast communities of countless other species. Put aside your other reading and embrace the challenge of becoming an Integrated Leader. We need you.

Clever and thought-provoking, this book and its approach is something I would draw on in my support of others as well as my own development. The Integrated Leader is a fresh and challenging manifesto for leadership that stimulates new thinking about people, personal development, systems, change, and much more. A stimulating blend of theory, examples, exploration, and provocation that invites the reader to think deeply about their leadership style and learning, it is a pertinent and relevant read vital in understanding leadership more fully and critically in our hyper-integrated world.
The book poses powerful questions for leaders at any stage of their development and career stage.

In a dynamic, increasingly complex world, leaders continue to search for ways to make a difference and have lasting impact. The Integrated Leader offers a compelling look into the importance of conscious awareness of both ourselves and the environments and systems in which we exist. This book is an important read for anyone curious about how they can become a more complete, more fulfilled leader and human being.

Chris invites us in for something that feels like a tasting menu of eleven servings in three sittings. Emerging from a lifetime of insights on management theories, and acutely relevant and susceptible to the state of the planet today, he presents no definitive answers but challenges us to slow down and consider how we think about ourselves, our identity as leaders and our relationship with the ecosystem we are impacting. It takes courage to dine with Chris, but I highly recommend you invest the time to savor his reflections and allow them to challenge (and evolve) the selfawareness and interconnectivity of you and your organization.

Acknowledgements
This book reflects my 25+ years of experience as a facilitator in post-experience management education. Many voices have influenced me over the years, and some deserve direct mention here.
For the main title, I am indebted to John Whittington, coach and author of Systemic Coaching & Constellations. I had been struggling to express what was at the core of the personal development idea at Henley, aside from awareness. Awareness, yes, but of what? The key was the idea of integration. John and I had been developing a joint workshop for alumni of the Executive MBA at Henley, and on his suggestion the Integrated Leader concept fitted perfectly.
The manifesto for business leaders in Chapter Zero came from Diana Naya, an inspirational educator and yoga and mindfulness teacher from Spain. Diana had already developed a manifesto for teachers and educators in her field, and it struck me how much of that would work well in management. She has been generous and gracious in reworking this wisdom to fit the concept and intention of the book.
I am grateful to Tracey Mills, who took time to offer feedback on the draft for this book, and to Dr Tai Wei Lim for encouragement and for connecting me with World Scientific as publisher.

Foreword
Personal development is often treated as a nice to have in leadership. In fact, its central and essential to any development that endures and is the difference that makes the difference. This simple truth is central to Chriss teaching and writing and runs through this insightful book.
Chris invites you to unpack one of the most loaded words in the English language leadership and find yourself within. He opens the door wide and then lets you find your own way around. There are timeless truths on every page and yet he manages to convey them as if we are hearing them for the first time, so they resonate deeply. This book offers an invitation to stop and think about how you think and connect to your emerging sense of authentic self.
