CONTENTS
Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love,
for I have put my trust in you.
Show me the way I should go,
for to you I entrust my life.
Rescue me from my enemies, L ORD ,
for I hide myself in you.
Teach me to do your will,
for you are my God;
may your good Spirit
lead me on level ground.
(Psalm 143:8-10 NIV )
May my prayer be set before you like incense;
may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice.
In peace I will both lie down and sleep;
for you alone, O L ORD , make me dwell in safety.
On my bed I remember you;
I think of you through the watches of the night.
Because you are my help,
I sing in the shadow of your wings.
I cling to you;
your right hand upholds me.
(Psalm 141:2 NIV )
(Psalm 4:8)
(Psalm 63:6-8 NIV )
2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man [woman] of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
G ods Word can be trusted above everything else. Circumstances, emotions, health, social norms, morality, the stock market, relationships, the weatherthey all change. The Word never changes, but it will change us. It tells us who God is and who we are. It tells us the truth about ourselves, and it is always right. It instructs, convicts, heals, comforts, protects, encourages.
If we will be strong women of faith and conviction, then we must know what we believe and be able to defend it. The best way to do this is to memorize Scripture, to fill our minds and thoughts with truth and instructions that are instantly available in time of needto keep us from sin, protect us from evil, sustain us in trials, comfort us in sorrow, and give us wisdom and discernment. We can speak the truth in love and bring hope to a broken world.
God gave us His precious Word to teach us how valuable we are to Him, how much He loves us, and how we are to live. Jesus is our example in praying, enduring, forgiving, obeying, loving, resisting temptation, extending grace, being courageous, speaking the truth, and even in dying victoriously. Jesus is our wisdomthe living Wordfull of grace and truth.
I wrote this book with the deep conviction that the Bible is the source of our spiritual life, nourishing and sustaining us in a world filled with conflicting voices. Psalm 138:2 tells us that God has exalted (magnified) His Word and His name above all things. My hope and prayer is that every woman who reads this book will develop a desire to memorize Gods Word and understand what it teaches.
Join me on this journey as we explore the Scriptures together.
Proverbs 19:11 ( NIV ) A persons wisdom yields patience; it is to ones glory to overlook an offense.
Ephesians 4:26-27 Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil.
James 1:19 ( NIV ) My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.
A nger is a normal and usually healthy human emotion, when it is under control. It can range from a mild irritation to strong feelings of displeasure to intense hostility to destructive rage. In an angry episode, biological changes take place in which the fight or flight hormones (adrenaline and noradrenaline) are released, which increases the blood pressure and heart rate. Intense anger can produce a surge of energy that turns into a rage, bypassing the thinking part of the brain and allowing us to say and do things well regret later.
Explosive anger can lash out in verbal or physical violence. It can become an effective weapon that can be used to scare other people and make them do what we want. Long-term anger can cause health problems and damage relationships. It will harm and even destroy what is most dear and important in lifefamily, home, friends, education, career, and even independence and freedom.
There is healthy angerrighteous indignationthat all of us should have about certain things, such as all kinds of abuse, sex trafficking, rape, murder, abortion, injustice, extortion, addictions, and other criminal and immoral activities. As far as possible, we must do what we can to fight and prevent all forms of evil.
Babies and children do not have to take a course in anger. It is their natural response when their needs and rights are neglected or abused and when they dont get their way or receive the attention they crave. A child usually grows out of temper tantrums, but if this behavior is allowed to become the typical way for that child to react to an experience, they will learn to manipulate people and circumstances with their anger. A childs experience with anger during the first few years of life will greatly affect their future ability to handle anger in an appropriate way.
