Can you imagine drinking water from a sewerage system while youre recovering from diarrhoea, or kissing a friend who is bed-bound with flu, or having unprotected sex with a partner who has an STD? Such actions seem crazily risky, even dangerous, to us, yet our ancestors wouldnt have thought twice about doing them.
In parts of Europe during the early Enlightenment (16851730), cleaning the body was regarded as heathen because the Bible says that He who is once washed in Christ need not wash again. Some religious leaders interpreted this scripture literally, and taught that taking a bath would dissolve ones association with the Divine. Bathing was regarded as an unchristian thing to do.
Unsurprisingly, then, most people didnt ever wash their bodies, and as a result they suffered from all sorts of skin conditions. Despite the various cures on offer, patients failed to recover from their ailments because they were simply unaware of the correlation between a lack of cleanliness and infection. This and many similarly hazardous practices ensured that in this period, and indeed throughout most of human history, people were caught up in an endless cycle of contracting an infectious disease, attempting a cure, sabotage, and then a recurrence of that disease.
Hostages of the Unseen
Today were amazed by this level of ignorance and reassure ourselves that our own lives are so much safer and more hygienic. We take daily showers and wash our hands after using the bathroom; we know to use protection to avoid contracting STDs; patients with contagious conditions are quarantined; and generally, we afford all aspects of personal hygiene the utmost priority. In fact, many of us are now so conscious of hygiene that we carry antibacterial sprays and wipes around with us, so we can remove any germs we encounter and exterminate them before they do any harm.
Imagine how our ancestors would react if they could see us doing all these things. They would probably be astonished or, most likely, ridicule us, because until relatively recently, as were about to discuss, no one was aware that germs even existed. It reminds me of the saying And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.
So you might think that theres absolutely no connection between the environment in which our ancestors lived, with bacteria and viruses running riot, and the safe, squeaky-clean world in which we in the West live today. After all, unlike us, our forebears exposed themselves to all manner of health dangers, many times a day in many different ways, and often suffered greatly as a result. They had little idea of even basic hygiene practices, whereas we know exactly how to protect ourselves.
Well, what Im about to share with you might come as a surprise. Yes, we may be a lot cleaner and much more clued up about how to lead sanitary lives, but many of us are completely unaware that we need to take our personal hygiene to a whole new level. By this, I dont mean protecting ourselves from biological pathogens such as viruses, bacteria and fungi. Im talking about managing the pathogens in the unseen world of energy around us.
Many people dont know that these energy pathogens exist and are therefore oblivious of the numerous ways in which they can affect us. And, just as happened to our ancestors, our ignorance of the existence of these pathogens, and our failure to protect ourselves from them, enables them to contaminate us and seriously compromise our wellbeing.
Having healed thousands of people over the past two decades, Ive discovered that exposure to such energy toxicity is one of the main ways in which we sabotage our wellness. Later in the book, well explore energy toxicity and Ill describe my concept behind energy pathogens.
