Brian Ivie was filled with compassion as he read an LA Times article about Pastor Lees solution to unwanted newborns in South Koreaa baby drop box. Brian traveled halfway around the world to film the documentary The Drop Box. But God had even bigger plans. For in the midst of filming the plight of these abandoned and forgotten children, Brian realized his own spiritual brokenness.
At its heart, this is a story of spiritual orphansyoung and olddiscovering their true identity as children of God.

KINDREDS MISSION

Kindred Image exists to support the vision and legacy of Pastor Jong-rak Lee and his flock.

KINDREDS PASSION

Kindred Image is a nonprofit organization that works to support the vision and legacy of a courageous pastor in South Korea. What began as a desperate one-man campaign to protect life in one small neighborhood is now an organized effort to love and serve mothers in crisis, and never see an abandoned child on the streets of South Korea again. For the rest of the world, Kindred hopes to restore the idea of a God-given kindred image, thereby defending the dignity and value of all human lives.

KINDREDS MODEL

PREVENTION

We want to put an end to abandonment. But we know that this is a matter of the heart. Through story-based awareness, we work to change cultural consciousness and change prevailing views of single mothers and children with disabilities.

INTERVENTION

We never want to sit on the sidelines and simply tell stories about abandonment. Led by Pastor Lees compassionate vision, Kindred staff members serve at the drop box site, where precious lives truly hang in the balance.

RESTORATION

We know that crisis care alone isnt enough. Through counseling, care packages, and the building of a new facility for holistic care, we are committed to walking with mothers and children through difficult circumstances and into brighter futures.

KINDREDS ETHOS

  • We believe everyone is made in the image of God and is, therefore, beloved, sacred, and precious.
  • We believe Pastor Lee is a faithful father of the abandoned and protector of the least of these.
  • We believe God is the ultimate Father, who graciously sent His only Son to save the broken and the lost.

The fight for life is more than just political. In so many ways, its decided in the cultural imaginationand heroes like this provide the inspiration we need to replace cultures that spawned Kermit Gosnell, sewer pipes, child abandonment, and forced abortions with a culture that looks more like the home of Pastor Jong-rak Lee. That, my friends, is overcoming evil with good.

What people are saying about

THE DROP BOX

In the self-centered, me first world we live in, it was truly amazing to see a man giving his life for the sake of children who had no hope, and also to see the young filmmaker whose life was changed forever by witnessing it. This book is emotional and profound in every way. Stop what you are doing and read on.

Jon Erwin, writer and director of October Baby and Woodlawn

Brian Ivie bids us to come gather round his campfire and listen to a story not about him, or Pastor Leebut about us. Its an illuminating, inspiring, warm, penetrating fire, magical and mysterious. He is not the light; he has found a way to share the light hes been given. And he asks each of us to put something of ourselves into the flames. The Drop Box is a great story, well-told by a gifted storyteller and friend.

John Shepherd, executive producer of Man Down and The Ultimate Gift

The Drop Box tells a moving story of Gods subversive, selfless, fatherly love undercutting selfishness, saving the unwanted, and transforming lives in unpredictable ways and surprising places.

Barnabas Piper, author of The Pastors Kid and the forthcoming Help My Unbelief

This young man is a game changer. I encourage you to read this powerful life-changing story. This is the kind of book we need to get into the hands of the next generation!

Michael Catt, author of Courageous Living and lead pastor of Sherwood Church, Atlanta

Brian Ivie brings a compelling story together through wit and honesty that never fails to connect. This book is a great resource for anyone earnest about living a life on mission for Christ.

Will Bakke, writer and director of Beware of Christians and Believe Me

What a stimulating story! Brian Ivie shares his journey with remarkable honesty and refreshing humor. Reading his story put a smile on my face and hope in my heart. It was such a joy to see how God captured the heart of this filmmaker. Those who love movies will especially enjoy his narrative. Read it and enjoy the journey.

Rev. Sammy Tippit, author of Gods Secret Agent and Twice a Slave

I love seeing God raise up young artists to put His glory on display through their creativity. Brians riveting story magnifies the reality that God has created each of us in His image for something much bigger than a pension and a mortgage. I was gripped by the vivid story and captivated by Brians vast knowledge of film. He writes like a man on a mission, and I want to join it with him! Read this, be moved, and follow the same Jesus on His path for you.
