I d like to thank Tama Fortner for her excellent adaptation of Jesus Todaya very difficult assignment. I appreciate all the efforts of Jennifer Gott, my dedicated project manager, who skillfully guided this project in more ways than I can enumerate here. Im very thankful for Kris Bearss, my longtime editor, who worked on this project with her usual expertise, diligence, and professionalism. Last, but definitely not least, I want to thank my creative publisher, Laura Minchew, for coming up with the idea for this book.
J esus Today: Devotions for Kids is about Jesus and His amazing Love for you. Its also a book about hope. Some kids may think that hoping is just wishful thinking. But the hope Jesus offers you is something you can hold on toknowing it will never let you down. Because Jesus will never let you down! No matter what is happeningwhether you are happy, scared, angry, or sadGod is always in control, and He is always good.
Like Jesus Calling: 365 Devotions for Kids, the devotions in this book are written as if Jesus is speaking right to you. I wrote the devotions this way to help you know that Jesus is with you all the timethe Friend who is always by your side. He knows everything about you, and He loves you more than you can imagine!
Jesus loves you so much that He died on the cross to take the punishment for your sins. If you have never asked Him to be your Saviorforgiving all your sinsI encourage you to do that very soon. Its the most important decision you will ever make! All the promises in the Bible are for you when Jesus is your Savior.
If youre a Christian, then your hope is strong and secure. Because Jesus has already paid for every one of your sins, you know you are completely forgiven. You also know that the story of your life in this world finishes wonderfully wellat the gates of heaven!
The Bible is the only perfect Word of God, and Ive included Bible verses to go with each devotion. These verses from Gods Word will help you learn how much Jesus loves you and why you can trust Him.
I hope you will find a quiet place to read these devotions slowly each day. Jesus loves spending time with you. And the better you get to know Him, the more you will love spending time with Him too. You can talk with Jesus about everything, wherever you are and whatever is happening. Remember: Jesus has promised to be with you always. And He hears every one of your prayers.
Sarah Young
What is hope? Hope is expecting God to keep His promises... and knowing that He will.
God is not a man. He will not lie. God is not a human being. He does not change his mind. What he says he will do, he does. What he promises, he keeps.
NUMBERS 23:19
P ut your hope in Me, because I love you... always.
HopeMy kind of hopeis very different from any other kind. It is more than a wish or a dream. It is expecting Me to keep My promises, because you know that I will. One of My greatest promises is to give you a happy ending to your story.
