Guide
Having questions about faith is something that happens to many people. They can have lots of serious concerns and questions about it all. Questions such as: Does God really exist, Was Jesus really the Son of God, and Is the Bible all true. Some people are young when they start to wonder and want to dig deeper about things and some are older.
Here are some things to remember:
- You are not alone on your journey to answer questions you might have about God and Jesus and Christianity.
- There are many places you can go to look for evidence that will help you find the answers you need.
This year-long devotional is for anyone looking for encouragement and inspiration for the journey. Gods own words from Scripture will assure you and in many devotions, clear evidence is presented to you, that will strengthen your faith and give you hope and peace as you explore that faith in Jesus.
So read the Scripture, reflect on the message, really think about the questions each day, and then pray with all your heart. This is going to be a great 365-day journey!
But test them all; hold on to what is good.
1 THESSALONIANS 5:21
Truth is important. Journalists make their living by seeking the truth and presenting the facts accurately. Detectives look for clues in a crime scene to discover the truth of what happened. Kids need the truth too! But how do we know whats true and what isnt?
If someone said they got free pizza by saying the word Flusterbuns when calling in their order, would it be believable? Wed probably check the restaurants website or ask some friends about it, but we wouldnt know until we called for pizza, said Flusterbuns, and saw what happened.
To know something for sure, it has to be tested! A person who tests something before they believe it is called a skeptic. Some people think to be a Christian, we have to believe something without testing it. Thats called blind faith. Having faith in God is important, but it doesnt need to be blind. He gives us lots of reasons to see He is real.
Proverbs 8:17 says, I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me. God isnt worried about our questions or doubts. He knows when we seek the truth, well always come back to him. And finding God is much better than getting free pizza!
Whats something you heard but didnt believe until you tested it?
Whats something about God that seems too good to be true?
Lord, help me seek you. Make me skeptical of the things that arent true.
