CONTENTS
1. Forward Ever, Backward Never
G ente mente adelante , no retrocedas oh valiente - that is - Forward O People, Forward O Mind, no matter the pangs, never look behind! By looking behind, I don't mean to look, rather I mean to fall behind. And how do we fall behind - not just as individuals, but also as a society? We fall behind when we deny growth - when we assume perfection and deny correction - when we hold on to our tradition so hard that tradition becomes more valuable to us than life itself.
And let me make one thing very clear. I've got no beef with tradition, but I ain't gonna let no tradition triumph over society at the expense of humanity. Forward ever, backward never. Remember, the struggle isn't over till the last oppressed community becomes equal. The struggle isn't over till the last drop of tear is wiped out.
This is not my belief, this is the fundamental principle of societal development - a fact of humanity. You see, I don't have beliefs, I have convictions, absolutely incorruptible, uncompromisable convictions - convictions for which I will not kill anyone, but for which I will happily die myself.
Now, I beg you not to philosophize or intellectualize this with terms like woke or activism, for this is no such thing, this is just plain humanity. Drinking water to hydrate yourself is not hydrationism, it's just life, likewise - standing up to the inhumanities of society is not activism, it's just humanity.
This struggle against inhumanity is the most sacred of all struggles. And as I said, the struggle isn't over till the last oppressed community turns equal - the struggle isn't over till every person on earth feels at home. Equality is not luxury, it's necessity. It is a fundamental requirement of civilization.
Equality facilitates harmony, and harmony further facilitates equality. But mark you, I am not talking about simply believing in harmony, for harmony is no belief. I don't believe in harmony, for if I did, it'd be like saying, I believe in water. There is no life without water, likewise there's no humanity without harmony. It's not a belief, it's a fact of life.
Equality, harmony, diversity - these are not something you believe, these are the foundation of a civilized lifeform, hence, these are life itself. Or to put it absolutely plainly, there is no nationality, religion, race or gender, there's only humanity.
