My Broken Season

broken brokn

1. verb (of a person) having given up all hope; despairing

Many people might be wondering what a broken season is. We must understand that being broken is a part of life. The question is not what is a broken season, but how do you handle being broken. I began to look at my life, and all I saw was a bunch of shattered pieces. Have you ever dropped a teacup on the floor, and when you looked down broken pieces were everywhere? That is how I saw my life during my broken season. I was looking at all the shattered pieces in my life and was wondering how will I ever be able to put all these pieces back together again. I felt like I was so damaged. I then heard a sweet-sounding voice say to me, You will not be able to, but I can . That was the voice of the Lord.

In my broken season, I began to question how I can preach the Gospel when I am so messed up. How can I encourage someone else when I cant even encourage myself? I began to ask God, How can You use me when I am broken, and my life is shattered into pieces? I felt as if everything around me was falling apart. Then I heard that sweet voice again say, Be still and see the salvation of the Lord . I thought to myself, Be still, how? When I see all these pieces before me? Its like when you drop a teacup, and all the broken pieces are shattered all over the floor, and you rush to get a broom so no one will notice you broke the cup, or you dont want to hurt yourself or anyone else because of the broken, shattered pieces on the floor. That is how I looked at my life. I didnt want anyone to notice that I was broken, so I tried to pick up the pieces quick; and I didnt want to hurt myself or anyone else during my broken season, so I didnt think I could just be still.

The broken season began to look as if it was starting to weigh me down. I didnt have the energy to fight anymore; I was worn out. Have you ever felt like you have done all you can do in life? As I looked and saw my life shattered into pieces, broken, before me, I didnt have any more fight in me. I felt like giving up. I didnt want to pray anymore because I felt like God wasnt hearing my prayers and that I was left to fight this battle alone. I found myself crying and yelling at God, Where are you? I need you to come into my life right now, and when You come, please put all these pieces back together again. I heard that small sweet voice again, and He said, This battle is not yours. Its mine . I said to myself, This is not my battle, so why am I fighting so hard?

I said, Let me step out of the ring . When I see myself in the ring, I see me punching and sweating and getting all tired, but no one else didnt think I was worth fighting for, so I was in the ring alone fighting, and I ended up broken in the process. Sometimes I felt like I was in a flood. The water kept coming, and I didnt see anyone coming to rescue me. What do I do now? I heard a small sweet voice say, You look to the hills from whence cometh your help and my help come from the Lord . I began to pray, then praise, and then the next thing you know, I was in worship. No matter how bad life may be, remember, thats when the praise matters the most.

During my broken season is when God used me the most, and I began to learn how to listen to Him. I thought it was my fault that I was broken; the decisions that I made caused my brokenness. I even gave credit to people and Satan for causing my brokenness. We give too much credit to Satan and people and not enough to God. I didnt realize what God was doing at the time because I was so broken, and my life was scattered into pieces. It was once I began to sit still and see the salvation of the Lord; and once I stopped fighting and let the Lord fight my battles, I began to see the hand of the Lord moving in my life, and I started seeing Him put the teacup that was shattered and broken back together again. My broken season had to take place, and I thank God for the lessons that He taught me even in my brokenness.
