Before beginning the process of taking your body through astral projection, you have to learn about what it is and what it isnt. The first step is learning the basics which will prove to be very beneficial before you embark on this journey. Once you have learned the basics you will be prepared and equipped with enough valuable knowledge to explore this amazing spiritual adventure.
Astral projection is the process of transferring the consciousness to the astral body from the physical body. Often referred to as an out of body experience, this process sets your spirit free to explore the astral planes. We have several vessels or vehicles to carry our consciousness and the astral body is merely one of them.
Astral projection helps you live beyond the limitations of physics, and gives you the opportunity to explore the world around, uninhibited. The past, present and future, all open up to you. Since you are no longer limited to the physical world, you can travel anywhere you want, whether to your own backyard or as far as distant countries. There are several reasons why you might want to try this method of travelling to distant places and times. So, in order to find out what you need to know about astral projection and to avoid any rookie mistakes you might make or misconceptions you might have, follow these simple steps and discover a whole new world.
Chapter 1: Mental Preparation
When you enter the larger consciousness system, you will experience your true being. However, if you enter with an obsessively focused intent, the results will be fuzzy at best. Remember that future probability is modified by conscious intent. The astral reality is experienced with your consciousness; so dont rely on your senses for this experience. If you enter the astral realm with a positive frame of mind, and without fear, you will have a good experience. Negative and fearful intents, as in real life, will only result in negative interactions. It is important to enter this realm with an open mind and a healthy frame of mind.
A common mistake made by a lot of beginners is attempting astral projection at night, before bedtime. It is best time to practice astral projection in the morning. This is because your melatonin levels are higher in the morning and the stress of the day is less likely to weigh on your mind. Your cortisol levels also begin to build as your body prepares for the day to come; this helps you stay alert, which is important especially if you are starting out.
Another tip for a successful experience is that you can condition your body to wake up naturally in the mornings rather than setting the alarm clock. Drinking a glass of water before you go to bed, for example, is a good way to wake up naturally.
Once you are back in bed after your morning ablutions, make sure there is nothing around that will distract or disturb you. Turning off your cell phone is a great start.
One of the most important things before you begin is the mental preparation. Dont try too hard and dont let your expectations cloud your attempts. In the beginning, you dont have experience in the astral realm so keep your intentions simple and uncomplicated. In fact, in the beginning, only try to see if you can leave your body at all. When you are able to leave your body come back right away and reflect on your experience. Dont be afraid and let go of any limiting thoughts that could hold you back. Meditation exercises help greatly with this experience. Several use the method of visualizing a fear and feel it leaving their body then entering a flame to be destroyed. Since this chapter is all about the mental preparation before the actual experience, lets go in detail what you need to do in order to enter the astral realm in the right frame of mind.
Desire
Y ou wont go anywhere unless you want to. You have to have the desire and intention to travel on the astral plane. So if you are worried about being snatched out of your body, you can stop. Some people experience the beginning stages of astral projection, but if they dont have the interest or inclination to pursue it, they never go anywhere. So never be worried about being forced to travel outside of your physical being. It is completely up to if you want to build interest and the suitable desire required for such a journey.
Fear
I t isnt uncommon to experience doubts and fears related to astral projection. After all, there are so many horror movies that have been built around the theme. One of the largest obstacles that a beginner faces is the fear of the initial vibrational stage. Another common fear is the fear that you will die, or you wont come back to your body, or that your body will be possessed by some other entity.
However, these fears are all unfounded, as there have been zero recorded cases of any such incident. Even if you dont want to come back to the physical plane, it is inevitable that you will, no matter what you do. Everyone has these fears at one time or another, but when you overcome them, you will find that your life is enriched by these experiences.
The only way to overcome these fears is to face it head on. Work through your fears until it is resolved and melts away from your life.
Concentration
A nother big obstacle that several people face is the inability to concentrate. If you try to clear your mind and focus on one thing, it isnt unheard of to have a thought slip in and carry you off to fantasy land. This is the same problem people face when they are trying to meditate. However, meditation is a great way to practice concentration. There are several ways you can hone your concentration skills. If you are a student or work in a field that requires a lot of concentration, these techniques will also help you in your real life to focus better on studying or other tasks. Looking at candles, focusing on your third eye, using a certain vision or thought, whatever you prefer, or find works for you are all proven methods to improve concentration.
Experts in astral projection have said that the most important factor in experiencing leaving your body is to focus your consciousness on a single, almost unnoticeable thread. If you have ever heard a high-pitched noise in your head, people hear it sometimes when it is really quiet; try to focus your attention on this noise for a few minutes and the vibrations will start.
Relaxing
A s mentioned earlier, it is best to try astral projection in the mornings. We spend most of the day in the beta range. What you want is to enter a hypnagogic state, which is easiest during mornings when youre most relaxed. This brings down your brain frequencies to the theta range.
Once you are lying in your bed in the morning, begin breathing deeply and diaphragmatically. Rest a hand on the solar plexus and feel your stomach expand as you breathe in and retract as you breathe out. After a few minutes of this, youll find this breathing more effortless. Relax and allow it to happen instead of trying too hard to make it happen. Let it come naturally.
As a beginner, you might find this hard at first. But there are tools you can use to get yourself in the theta state. The best method is to listen to binaural beats, which lower your brain frequencies. It is designed specifically to induce out of body experiences.
Frame of mind
A nyone who has attempted an out of body experience before will tell you that if you are stressed or upset over a job, partner, health, finances or anything at all, then it is unlikely that you will be able to successfully clear your mind in order to reach the astral plane. Your worries will consume you and occupy your mind when you should be clearing it. Its true that you cant escape work, bills, loved ones, etc., but there are some things you can do to minimize the commotion in your life. Meditate regularly; spend time with people who bring joy and positivity into your life instead of with those who drain you.
