A Note from the Author

My name is Matthew David Bell. I wake up every morning excited about my day, doing exactly what I love. I am an entrepreneur and I own several businesses. Im privileged to work with many amazing people on a daily basis. I previously co-founded a mobile app company in 2013, which was acquired by a larger tech company in early 2016. Among other things, I was also a part of the super successful team at a multi-billion dollar tech startup, where I was a key contributor during the companys hyper-growth stage and path toward IPO. I am also a filmmaker, screenwriter, happy husband to a beautiful wife, and a proud dog dad to a nine-pound dachshund.

I am happy to say that today I am living a wonderful and blessed life. However, it took me a while to arrive at the career path that I longed forto be an entrepreneur.

After college I struggled to understand what I really wanted to do with my life. I tried the corporate world. I even took the LSAT and started the application process to law schools. Ive applied to hundreds of different jobs along the way. Nothing felt right unless I was on my own, building stuff, and starting things. I thrive working for myself and I realized in my late twenties that a big part of my purpose in this life is to be an entrepreneur. When I had this revelation it was both liberating, frustrating, exciting, and frightening all at once.

After I realized that God put entrepreneur in my DNA when He created me, it took me more than a few years of trying and failing to arrive at success on my own. I had always been successful working for other peoples companies, but starting my own companies proved really challenging. I needed to learn practical things I didnt know and spend a ton of time in prayer with God to deal with the emotional ups and downs of starting companies and to remain focused on my dreams and goals for my life.

This book is a personal boot camp for Christian entrepreneurs and folks who are interested in starting a business. It will take you through foundational spiritual and biblical elements that are critical for life as an entrepreneur. There are prayers and exercises at the end of every section to activate the spiritual and practical aspects of what you study each day.
