Killing Kryptonite may be read cover to cover just like any other book. Ive also designed the chapters to be short, taking no more than ten to fifteen minutes to read. With each chapter, you will find a Take Action component that will help you apply that chapters truths to your life. Please dont skip over these action stepsthey are a vital part of this books experience. For this reason, I recommend only reading one chapter each day. That way you can take the necessary action before moving to the next chapter.
In the back of this book, youll also find discussion content for those of you who wish to use Killing Kryptonite in a group setting. Ive also created an online course and physical study that parallel the content in this book. Both of these are great options if youd like to go deeper into this subject. (There is more information on the course and study in the back of the book.)
If youre reading this book as part of the Killing Kryptonite study or course, I recommend that you watch or listen to each weeks teaching and answer the discussion questions in the back of the book as a group. Then have each group member read the corresponding chapters before your next meeting.

If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.
Romans 10:910
God wants you to experience life in its fullness. Hes passionate about you and the plan He has for your life. But theres only one way to start the journey to your destiny: by receiving salvation through Gods Son, Jesus Christ.
Through the death and resurrection of Jesus, God made a way for you to enter His kingdom as a beloved son or daughter. The sacrifice of Jesus on the cross made eternal and abundant life freely available to you. Salvation is Gods gift to you; you cannot do anything to earn or deserve it.
To receive this precious gift, first acknowledge your sin of living independently of your Creator, for this is the root of all the sins you have committed. This repentance is a vital part of receiving salvation. Peter made this clear on the day that five thousand were saved in the book of Acts: Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out (Acts 3:19 NKJV). Scripture declares that each of us is born a slave to sin. This slavery is rooted in the sin of Adam, who began the pattern of willful disobedience. Repentance is a choice to walk away from obedience to yourself and Satan, the father of lies, and to turn in obedience to your new Master, Jesus Christthe One who gave His life for you.
You must give Jesus the lordship of your life. To make Jesus Lord means you give Him ownership of your life (spirit, soul, and body)everything you are and have. His authority over your life becomes absolute. The moment you do this, God delivers you from darkness and transfers you to the light and glory of His kingdom. You simply go from death to lifeyou become His child!
If you want to receive salvation through Jesus, pray these words:
God in Heaven, I acknowledge that I am a sinner and have fallen short of Your righteous standard. I deserve to be judged for eternity for my sin. Thank You for not leaving me in this state, for I believe You sent Jesus Christ, Your only begotten Son, who was born of the virgin Mary, to die for me and carry my judgment to the Cross. I believe He was raised again on the third day and is now seated at Your right hand as my Lord and Savior. So on this day, I repent of my independence from You and give my life entirely to the Lordship of Jesus.
Jesus, I confess you as my Lord and Savior. Come into my life through Your Spirit and change me into a child of God. I renounce the things of darkness which I once held on to, and from this day forward I will no longer live for myself. By Your grace, I will live for You who gave Yourself for me that I may live forever.
Thank You, Lord; my life is now completely in Your hands and according to Your Word, I shall never be ashamed. In Jesuss name, Amen.

Killing Kryptonite ? Is this a book about Superman? No, but there are striking parallels between his story and our life of faith. Lets consider the similarities.
Superman isnt from this world; a child of God is not of this world.
He possesses supernatural powers that normal human beings dont possess; we are supernaturally empowered in ways those of this world are not.
He fights evil; we fight evil.
He protects and liberates those oppressed by villains; we guard the weak and set captives free.
He draws his strength from the sun; we draw our strength from the Son.
Theres only one thing that can stop Superman: kryptonitea fictional radioactive substance originally from his home planet. Likewise, there is a kryptonite that originated on our home planet that can neutralize a child of God. Oh yes, it didnt originate on earth but was formed where we come from. Kryptonite not only neutralized Supermans otherworldly abilities, but it also made him weaker than a mere human being. Our kryptonite does the same.
What is our kryptonite? Before uncovering its identity, I need to set up the story. Kryptonites huge advantage over Superman is that it isnt easily recognizable, so he could come under its effects prior to identifying it. Even so, the believers kryptonite is weakening both individuals and the body of Christ, and to many it is still not recognizable. The purpose of this book is to identify it, as well as uncover how to eliminate it and its effects on us as individuals and as a community. So lets begin with a question.
Greatest Desire
What is our greatest desire ? I say our because if were truthful, its the same for each of us. Is it to be successful, to be the best in our field, to be popular, to be happily married, to enjoy great friendships, to be a part of a vibrant community, to enjoy good health, or to have enough resources to do anything we fancy?
Each of these is attractive and most are even necessary, but do they identify our greatest desire? Dont we know of people who have all of these things, yet still feel empty? Dont we hear stories of Hollywood actors, CEOs, professional athletes, government leaders, and others whove reached what society considers the pinnacle of success in life, and yet they still find themselves lacking something? In their emptiness, some turn to drugs, alcohol, exotic pursuits, or affairs. Still others turn to religion, new age spirituality, or occultism, hoping to fill the void that gnaws away at their insides.
If were honest, deep inside we all know that there is more. The true satisfaction every man and woman longs for, whether they realize it or not, can only be found in an intimate relationship with our Creator. No matter what you think about God, He is your deepest yearning. The contentment and fulfillment all human beings seek can only be found in reuniting with our Creator.
