MEET THE AUTHOR

Evelyn hails from a very tiny country of Estonia, so its ironic that she chose to be a writer when English isnt her fist language! After a few years of working for newspapers and local TV news, she chose to forego any idea of a schedule and started a freelance writing and marketing business. Because it isnt the most stable of jobs, Evelyn would often supplement her income with random gigs, including being a singing telegram and an airline interpreter. She has an unnaturally close relationship with food and for a number of years worked as a chef. However, after crying too many times in the kitchen, Evelyn had to give up her professional culinary pursuits. Instead, youll find her traveling, reading, participating in your general debauchery, and making new friends. She has several degrees and some accolades but shed much rather tell you about the time she smuggled a kitten on an airplane out of Russia.

EXCERPT FROM THE BOOK

Children are said to be the only ones who experience true happiness for they are still close to Heaven. Pure happiness is the best cure for any ailment and we strive to achieve bliss above all other accomplishments. Without a vision the people lose restraint; but happy is the one who follows instruction. (Proverbs 29:18) Not that I say this because of need, for I have learned, in whatever situation I find myself, to be self-sufficient. I know indeed how to live in humble circumstances; I know also how to live with abundance. In every circumstance and in all things I have learned the secret of being well fed and of going hungry, of living in abundance and of being in need. I have the strength for everything through him who empowers me. (Philippians 4:11-13)

100 Inspiring Bible Quotes
Introduction

That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

- John 3:6

When navigating through life we often turn to outside resources to help soothe our accumulating stresses. Some choose to indulge in food and drink, while others overspend on therapeutic shopping. Worse yet is when people take out their angst on their loved ones because they feel so out of control in their own lives. It is important to remember that every action and thought starts with us.

Although it may be hard to admit at first, any situation you find yourself in, you helped co-create. The upside is that at any moment, you can make the conscious choice to change your life for the better. While turning to outside pleasures is easier, having a dialogue with the Spirit will help you create the life you've always hoped for. For what we seek is already within us.

Until recently the divide between science and religion was so clear that it was rare to find individuals practicing methods of both teachings. Fortunately, with the world growing closer together, in great part due to sciences technological advances, religion can also meld into spirituality. Once the need is recognized to break barriers between religions through the guiding texts in which we share countless similarities, humanity can work towards achieving peace across nations.

Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind.

- Albert Einstein

While Einstein personally did not believe in religion or the immortality of the soul, he was ardent in his knowledge that the Universe had a greater intelligent design than we are able to fathom. Throughout history there have been countless notable scientists who either shared Einsteins opinion or openly believed in religion as a complement their work.

Galileo Galilei , for instance, had a close relationship with the Roman Catholic church . While in modern times Galileo is often referred to as the father of many sciences, including observational astronomy and physics, during his intellectual practices in the sixteenth century, Galileo was quoted as saying, I do not feel obliged to believe that same God who endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect had intended for us to forgo their use. His attitude towards practicing science and Christianity stemmed from his belief that he was simply contributing an alternate interpretation of biblical texts to the world.

In an article published by National Geographic News in 2004 , Stefan Lovgren reported on a new branch of scientists that believe religion and science can coexist. Joel Primack, a professor and astrophysicist from California says that, In the last few years astronomy has come together so that we're now able to tell a coherent story of how the universe began. This story does not contradict God, but instead enlarges [the idea of] God."

According to the article, it is quite possible that evolution was part of Gods greater plan, in which case religion would support Darwins theories. The one statement scientists are adamant about making is that the Bible or any religious text cannot be taken as entirely factual.

Lovgren writes, Like other scientists of faith, Primack, who is Jewish and reads the Bible regularly, argues that the Bible must not be taken literally, but should be read allegorically . One simply cannot read the Bible as a scientific text, because it's often contradictory, Primack said. For example, in the Bible, Noah takes two animals and puts them on the Ark. But in a later section, he takes seven pairs of animals. If this is the literal word of God, was God confused when He wrote it? "

It stands to reason then in order to be able to move forward with new discoveries in regards to religion, we must revisit the texts and study them. One of the greatest barriers to religion is the division between faiths. Wars have been waged for centuries between Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, and other faiths, when essentially the texts all serve as moral codecs, preaching similar guidelines for truthful living.

The Bible has been translated many times over with each interpretation hoping to get closer to the original meaning of the text and contains much wisdom on how to live life ethically.

I hope the following quotes inspire you to find positivity in every moment and a guiding light in any circumstance.

The Bible on Relationships

Through different scriptures, the Bible encourages people to form their own families in addition to already established blood ties. Friendship is revered as sacred communication and honor in all relationships is emphasized.

  • A nd as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise. (Luke 6:31)
  • A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity. (Proverbs 17:17)
  • Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. (John 15:13)
  • Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go: Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul. (Proverbs 22:24-25)
  • Let brotherly love continue. Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. (Hebrews 13:1-2)
  • Above all, let your love for one another be intense, because love covers a multitude of sins. (I Peter 4:8)
  • Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord. For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God. (I Corinthians 11:11-12)
  • Let marriage be honored among all and the marriage bed be kept undefiled, for God will judge the immoral and adulterers. (Hebrews 13:4)
  • The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife. (I Corinthians 7:4)
  • For what knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save thy husband? Or how knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save thy wife? (I Corinthians 7:16)
  • Three things are too wonderful for me, yes, four I cannot understand: The way of an eagle in the sky, the way of a serpent upon a rock, the way of a ship on the high seas, and the way of a man with a woman. (Proverbs 30:18-19)
The Bible on Human Nature

The Bible teaches that human beings, out of all the species God created, have the greatest potential to achieve wonder, but also experience the most tragic pitfalls. Though God has made humans just a little lower than angels, the Bible speaks of humanitys importance in the eyes of the Creator.

  • I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. (Psalms 139:14)
  • Anyone who sheds the blood of a human being, by a human being shall that ones blood be shed; For in the image of God have human beings been made. (Genesis 9:6)
  • Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding. (Proverbs 17:28)
  • "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth." (Genesis 1:26)
  • A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. (Luke 6:45)
