The Breath of God

T he Bible says that he himself [God] gives life and breath to everything, and he satisfies every need there is (Acts 17:25). What is your need today? If you or someone you love has been diagnosed with asthma, you need to experience the life and the breath of God!

When God created Adam, He formed him from the dust of the ground, and then He breathed into Adam the breath of life. It was at that point that Adam became a living person. (See Genesis 2:7.) In the Garden of Eden, both Adam and Eve had perfectly whole bodies. Before sin entered the world, there was no sickness, no germs, no disease of any kind.

However, when Adam and Eve disobeyed God, sin and its consequencessickness, disease and deathwere allowed to enter the world, and mankind has been dealing with its repercussions ever since. The good news is that sickness and disease were not Gods idea! It breaks His heart when His children suffer, and because of His great love for us, He has provided a way out by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to pay for our sins.

Jesus death on the cross purchased our salvationnot only for us to spend all of eternity in Gods presence, but also so that we can experience the life of God in this life here on earth. Gods will is that not one of His precious children suffers from the disease of asthma. Because of what Jesus has done, the breath of God is available to each of us.

Chapter 1
Your Position As Protector

W hen God made us in His own wonderful image, He gave us a very big job to do. He made us protector of all that He created. The Bible says, What is man, that thou art mindful of him?... Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands (Ps. 8:4, 6, KJV).

Sadly, mankind has not done a very good job as steward over the earth, especially in protecting the purity and quality of the air we must breathe.

The deterioration of our planets natural resources can make it difficult for any person to breathe easy. God created the firmament (ozone layer) to protect us from the suns cancer-causing ultraviolet rays and harmful gases. (See Genesis 1:67.) Ozone is the main chemical offender in smog. It irritates the eyes as well as the respiratory tract.

There is a strong association between smog levels and the severity of asthma cases. Ozone is one of the most harmful air pollutants for asthmatics. It is created by the combination of hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxide and sunlight.

Asthma patients should avoid jogging or walking alongside a busy highway where their lungs can absorb high amounts of carbon monoxide; diesel exhaust is one of the worst triggers for asthma. Asthma patients should never wait outside of airports or in fume-filled bus stops since the diesel fumes in these places can trigger a severe asthma attack.

If you live in a large city such as Los Angeles or New York, I recommend that you read the newspaper to find out when the ozone levels are highest. Try to stay inside, and use your air conditioner on days when the ozone level is high.
