WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT
LOVE OR DIET
I have been on the path to self-love for many years now but seldom have I come across a book whose voice touches me like Ani Richardsons in Love or Diet. Perhaps its because Ani walks her talk and when she speaks you can feel her right beside you. Perhaps its because she has risen from the ashes but remembers where she came from, or perhaps its because her heart is so unconditional that you fall into it gratefully. Whatever the reason, this book is like having your BFF, your guardian angel and a box of Kleenex by your side.
We all act out our unhealthy relationship with ourselves in a myriad of ways. It doesnt matter what your poison is, what matters is that you stop hating yourself and start loving yourself, no matter what. In other words, if you must eat that box of chocolates, go ahead, but dont punish yourself for it. Ani speaks first-hand to the insidious complexities of using food to hide, numb, stuff and hurt ourselves, and with fierce wisdom and enduring compassion (her words) she helps us to find the way out through self-love.
I LOVED this book and I am now and forever a fan of Anis. For years to come, I will delight in recommending Love or Diet to my readers and clients. Anyone who reads it will know how fortunate they are to have Ani as their guide.

I imagine that Anis openness, sensitivity and honesty regarding her own journey will inspire, gently motivate and encourage her readers to make changes that support their own health and wellbeing. She has used her background working in nutrition and helping people with eating disorders as well as her own experience to create a supportive plan and enjoyable read to help readers remember how to love themselves and improve their body image and love lives.

Foreword
As women, were bombarded with images of so-called perfection.
Were told to buy this: you will be better, look like this: you will be better.
Were led to believe that adding things to ourselves, whether its a pair of shoes or a pair of silicone breasts, will make us better/stronger/prettier/younger looking, when the real truth is that actually were already pretty freakin perfect right now, just as we are.
I often try to imagine a world where womens worth isnt measured by a size written on a dress label, where the add-ons our clothes, the work we do, what we own, how we look, where we live are no longer the things that validate us as women in the world that world would rock. Hard.
But for that to happen we need to change shit up.
We need to stop looking outside ourselves for approval, for a quick fix, for the answers, and instead we need to be still, listen, and take a look inside ourselves. Girl-kind is beautiful and big hearted with our own emotion-led and intuitive inner GPS system, but currently, because society actively encourages us not to, we no longer hear our big-beat-y heart, the place where all the answers lie, and when we cant hear that, we tend to make seriously whack decisions about our lives.
When the world feels too overwhelming, I turn to food. When I feel like my heart might break when I watch the news, I eat food. When I feel rejection, pain or hurt, I turn to food. When I want to celebrate, I turn to food. When I dont stop, be still, and listen to my big, beat-y heart in a situation good or bad I turn to food.
Which is why I am blessed, grateful, doing star jumps o joy that Ani Richardson has written this book.
This book matters.
As women we share stories, its what we rock at, but it also takes deep courage to share YOUR story. But in doing so, you can encourage other women to share theirs, which is why Im high fiving Ani for her complete honesty and truth sharing. As a trained nutritionist, g-friend knows her shit. As a woman whos struggled with emotional and binge eating, g-friend knows her shit.
In this book, Ani is a friend to hold your hand, shes someone who will help you understand what makes you emotionally eat, what youre really responding to when you choose to put certain foods in your mouth and to shine a light on any dark shadows that are stopping you from being the juicy and delicious woman you were born to be.
