Contents

The Preamble

Welcome to the world of How to Live with Dragons . If this book has found its way into your hands, there is a pretty good chance that you have already encountered the dragon realms and are wondering: What on earth is going on? and/or What do I do now?

The writing of this book has taken an age. I made numerous attempts at creating the content what to include, what to leave out, how to get across what living with dragons is really like and how to go about it. I also had to consider whether to include what dragons are, why they are here and how you, the reader, can enhance your connection to them.

While pulling this all together, I tried to follow some form of start to finish guide. But this was becoming too dry and dull. I tried to make it linear, following some kind of sequence that would make sense to you, the reader, rather than my somewhat haphazard introduction and learning from dragons. But that did not work either.

So, instead, here you have what the dragons have given me, as it feels right. Rather than a sequential journey, this book is a series of chapters that you can dip in and out of as and when you feel you need to.

You can of course read the book from cover to cover, and I will try to put it into some kind of order for you, until the dragons say otherwise.

My Dragon Encounters

My journey with the dragons over two decades has been remarkable and unremarkable in equal measure. There were times when I doubted my sanity and my natural abilities. My journey has been full of pitfalls and mines, euphoria and excitement, and more than one temper tantrum, from me rather than the dragons! Self-doubt and self-flagellation have been a part of that journey too. I didnt know of anyone else doing what I was doing with dragons, so there was no one to bounce ideas off or compare notes with.

In many respects it has been and continues to be a lonely path to tread.

As humans we all believe we gain our validation from another source, from our outside world. We all crave it, to give us confidence and to boost our self-belief. We think we need others to believe in us before we can believe in ourselves; that this validation must come from another person, a peer group and so on. For when another human believes in us, we then begin to believe in ourselves and learn to trust ourselves too.

The dragons have taught me that this does not need to be the case.

When I began my dragon journey it was the height of the Angelic Season (the dragons words, not mine). The dragons have historically been depicted as bad-tempered fire-breathing, maiden-stealing, gold-hoarding beasts of our folklore, fairy tales and legends. So in a nutshell, unpleasant beasts to be around. Yet here I was, gradually bringing these beings into my life. Despite wondering if it was a wise thing to do, I felt compelled to keep going, to follow the path they laid out for me.

It has been quite a journey to date, one that is continuously unfolding, for they and I are constantly growing together.

Here I share my knowledge and that of the dragons. Some of this is from the knowledge they have given to me, and other parts will be what they have taught me.

As I have been writing, rewriting, perusing and wondering about the content of this book, the form it would take and the message it would impart to whoever finds it in their hands, I came to realize a few things about the process, and this made me question the dragons about it more deeply.

This book and the work within it is a journey of self-discovery for you, dear reader, as you embark upon your dragon life. It is an exploration of the self, of healing, of often deeply held beliefs and, on occasions, of emotional pain.

Our wish (mine and the dragons) is that within its pages you find your uniqueness, your quirkiness, your passion, your power and your truth. Our wish is that you are able to embrace it all, along with a deepening spiritual understanding and relationship with your dragon kin.

Once these first foundations have been laid, healing can take place, with liberation within your reach. From this grounded point you can fly high with your winged family.

So now I welcome you aboard. And advise you to grab your hat and hold on tight your journey with the dragons may become a little bumpy at times. But hopefully you will also enjoy the ride!

Why Dragons?

I have wondered why dragons? a lot over the years.

The answer I received from my dragon guide Solomon was: We dragons are part of your spiritual evolution, both as a species and as a planet.

Ultimately dragons are here to support our life path during this incarnation, wherever that journey may take us. They are not averse to doing the heavy lifting that is often required on our planet. They know that life is not all love and light, no matter how much we would like it to be. They are here to guide us all along our chosen path, to deal with what life throws at us, to pick us up if we fall and teach us we can when we believe we cant.

As the spiritual warriors of Earth, their gifts to us are healing, empowerment, integrity, authenticity and deeper spiritual understanding.

Dragon Clans

Any group of dragons is known as a clan.

Within my Dragon Path Oracle deck I have included four clans. So if you are familiar with the deck you will already know the Earth Walks, Galactics, Grand Masters and Guardians. Other dragons and clans that I have come to know are the Helix Ray Dragons, Magdalenes Sapphire Dragons, Dragons of Light, Dragons of the Land and Earth Dragons.

All of these are covered in more detail throughout the book. There are undoubtedly others too, which you will encounter through your own dragon work.

In essence the dragons loosely work with the format below.

Healing Dragons

Personal healing, personal responsibility and accountability is the first lesson that the dragons teach and show us. They teach about shadow self, spiritual bypassing and being present. This leads us to personal truth, owning who we are and personal power.
