Lift: Living in Fullness Today: summary, description and annotation

To the weary, the broken, the discouraged and the disconnected, LIFT, is the power of encouragement, the strength underneath you, to LIFT you to the next level. In the face of your dilemma, God makes a way where there seems no way.

A Boeing 747 maximum takeoff weight is 970,000 lbs. yet it lifts seamlessly from the tarmac into the air embarking on its incredible journey. Defying gravity, the aerodynamic thrust of air beneath its wings, defined as lift, takes the burden-laden aircraft into the skies. The mighty eagle, with its nearly 7.5 ft. wingspan, graciously rises above the earth; lift is the strength to take the fearless eagle higher.

God promises in Isaiah to those who wait upon the Lord, They will rise up as eagles, God is the invisible strength underneath us to LIFT us to a higher level. What you cannot do on your own, LIFT turns the wilderness into a classroom, purging into fruitfulness and prayer into a delight.

Each chapter stands alone in leading us out of discouragement and into encouragement. With questions after each chapter, the book is designed for personal devotion or for group study.

Ministry is a challenging and demanding calling It is too frequently marked by - photo 1

Ministry is a challenging and demanding calling. It is too frequently marked by the broken pieces of those shipwrecked by it pressures. Jim Laudell calls us away from the compartmentalization of performance, character and spirituality to a healthy integration of all three. Reading this book and implementing its Lift Points will safeguard ministry and empower true spiritual fulfillment.

In his new book, LIFT - Living in Fullness Today, Pastor Jim Laudell lays out a very practical and biblical path for the believer to live a victorious life. As you read through the pages of this book you are sure to receive a faith lift. Without question, the will of the Father is that all of us walk in victory in a world that is hostile to our faith. The concepts laid out for us by Pastor Laudell point us in the direction of Living in Fullness Today!

LIFT is really an instruction manual for those who lose themselves to a disconnected soul. The personal stories and reflections, such as I Went to my Funeral and Miracle in the Morning, will connect the dots to real-time, real-life change. Since he too has walked this way before, Jim Laudell simply expresses the heart of God without promulgating any sense of low-grade guilt that one sometimes experiences through introspective books. If you are genuinely compelled toward spiritual rest and listening to the gentle rain falling on the old barn of your heart, you will want to read LIFT: Living in Fullness Today.

Pastor Jim Laudell has written a very practical and insightful book to help churches and pastors become more effective in their ministry. LIFT is an excellent source in helping ANY Leader to navigate through ministry pressures without experiencing burn-out. I highly recommend this book.

LIFT candidly addresses the need for true heartfelt humility in ministry. Jim Laudell does an excellent job differentiating between pursuing our agenda in ministry and Gods agenda. Too many in ministry burn out through the pressure to please the crowd and remain relevant in society. This book is a simple reminder that ministry is not about pleasing others, but only about pleasing the One Who has called you. Excellent and well written book!

Leadership on any level can be a lonely road, especially in pastoral ministry where you are often called to lead people from a posture of caring, correcting and covering. To lead effectively, you must be strategic in times of isolation - strategic times of devotion and intimacy with God. Its during the times of isolation that imagination can produce inspiration for the LIFT needed to continue to lead effectively.

I love the learned and earned insight revealed by the author and believe every leader, especially ministers, will receive a fresh perspective to continue their journey - lifted!

Jim Laudells vivid imagery and descriptive analogies not only poetically and graphically capture the essence of the burned-out and beleaguered one but also illuminate the promise of and create anticipation for Gods lifting him out of such a condition. One truly feels the lifting begin while reading Lift.

LIFT captures the deficit we see in the personal lives of people today: lack of connection, accountably and biblical koinonia. We are called to live a life of fullness (John 10:10). We are called to abundant living, but many times, we do not have the tools to walk that out in life. This practical guide provides answers and creates a synergy, a movement, which empowers us to become an avenue to LIFT ourselves and to LIFT others to a higher realm.

One of the greatest blessings in life a man can have is family. My supportive and praying wife, Gwen, has been my soul mate for over forty one years. My son, Pastor Brandon and his wife Amanda, we love much and admire them. My daughter, Melanie, and her husband, Pastor Nathan, who we love greatly, are true to God. My seven grandchildren are my hope for a dynamic and faith filled future.

I would never be where I am today without their prayers, love and encouragement.
