INTRODUCTION

I have been a student of the Word for most of my life, and over the years the Lord has taught me many healing principles based on Scripture. I have personally experienced the healing power of Gods Word and have seen multitudes healed. I am delighted to share with you some of my commentaries on various healing scriptures from the Bible. I pray these commentaries will provide you valuable insight and understanding. My hearts desire is that you will fall in love with the Word and will discover its healing, delivering, and transforming power and discover what a treasure the Word of God is.

Ive placed before the commentaries two messages that I taught recently that are near and dear to my heart: The Miracle Book and A Pure Heart. The Miracle Book will help you know what a miraculous, supernatural book the Bible is. I believe it will cause you to cherish your Bible more than ever before. A Pure Heart will reveal to you Gods purpose in sending us His Word. I believe when you learn His purpose it will increase your determination to be in the Word more than ever and cause you to love the Word more than ever before. It was such a delight to receive those messages from the Lord! Im certain you will find them to be a real treasure, just as I did.

THE MIRACLE BOOK

M y deep desire for you is that you grasp the majesty and magnificence of the Bible, the Word of Almighty God. I want you to understand what a miracle the Bible is. Its Gods miracle book. The creation of the Bible is in itself an absolute miracle. The Bible, written in three languages on three different continents, is a collection of sixty-six books written by more than forty authors over a period of 1,600 years. The authors were people from all walks of lifekings, shepherds, doctors, tax collectors, fishermen, farmers, military leaders, prophets, judges, priests, singersall with differing personalities living in different circumstances. They composed their works from palaces, prisons, homes, wildernesses, and places of exile. They recorded history, provided wisdom and instruction, pronounced judgments, and, most amazingly, gave prophecies of future events. Yet, despite this marvelous array of authors and their personalities, writing styles, backgrounds, and circumstances, the Bible displays a flawless consistency. It all fits together into one cohesive story, from Genesis to Revelation, with the various books confirming each other. That in itself is a miracle!

It is remarkable that such a book written by such a diverse group of people over such a long period of time has such continuity and consistency. And without contradiction. Truly amazing! It is in actuality one book written by one Authorthe Holy Spirit. He wrote the Bible through prophets of old and through disciples who listened to His voice and followed His leading and direction. The unity and continuity of Scripture reflect its supernatural origin. It is God-inspired. It is God-breathed. Only the one true God, whose Name is Yahweh, could provide us with such an inerrant, infallible, timeless messagethe message of His astounding love for mankind.

Truly, the Bible is a book like no other. Holding the Bible is like holding the truth of all the ages in your hand. Within its pages are the most significant words ever put in writingthe very words of God Himself, the words of your Creator. The Bible is the only book you will ever read that will tell you the truth about God, who you are, why you are here, and how you should live. And it speaks with the same authority as if God Himself were standing before you speaking. You can trust the Word of God. You can depend on it to be your guide, your wisdom, your hope, and your road map on this journey of life.

Second Peter 1:20-21 tells us, No prophecy of Scripture is a matter of ones own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God (NASB). There are many people today running around speaking all kinds of things and calling those words prophecies. But if it is truly a prophetic word from God, it is because the Spirit of God moves on that person to give a word He wants someone to hear. Peter, in the above verse, spoke of men being moved by the Holy Spirit. The Greek word translated moved in that scripture figuratively refers to men who hoisted their sails and went wherever the Spirit took them. Think about that. Youre following God day by day, you raise your sails, and when the wind moves you onward, you know youre not just drifting, but God Almighty is directing you where He wants you to go. Thats how we need to view the writing of the Bible. The men who wrote its pages were open to the leading of the Holy Spirit. They put up their sails (were listening for His direction), and then they were open to receive and write whatever He said.
