Daily Light Morning and Evening Devotional - image 2

MORNING

But one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind... I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

F ather, I desire that they... whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me. I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day. He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.

Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. Lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus.

PHIL. 3:1314; JOHN 17:24; 2 TIM. 1:12; PHIL. 1:6; 1 COR. 9:2425; HEB. 12:12

EVENING

The LORD, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you.

I f Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here. O LORD, I know the way of man is not in himself; it is not in man who walks to direct his own steps.

The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, and He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the LORD upholds him with His hand.

I am continually with You; You hold me by my right hand. You will guide me with Your counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

DEUT. 31:8; EX. 33:15; JER. 10:23; PS. 37:2324; 73:2324; ROM. 8:3839

MORNING

Sing to the LORD a new song.

S ing aloud to God our strength; make a joyful shout to the God of Jacob. Raise a song and strike the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the lute. He has put a new song in my mouthpraise to our God; many will see it and fear, and will trust in the LORD.

Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go. The joy of the LORD is your strength. Paul... thanked God and took courage.

Knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.

ISA. 42:10; PS. 81:12; 40:3; JOSH. 1:9; NEH. 8:10; ACTS 28:15; ROM. 13:1114

EVENING

Let my prayer be set before You as incense, the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

Y ou shall make an altar to burn incense on.... And you shall put it before the veil that is before the ark of the Testimony, before the mercy seat that is over the Testimony, where I will meet with you. Aaron shall burn on it sweet incense every morning; when he tends the lamps, he shall burn incense on it. And when Aaron lights the lamps at twilight, he shall burn incense on it, a perpetual incense before the LORD throughout your generations.

Therefore [Jesus] is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. The smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, ascended before God from the angels hand.

You also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

Pray without ceasing.

PS. 141:2; EX. 30:1, 68; HEB. 7:25; REV. 8:4; 1 PETER 2:5; 1 THESS. 5:17

MORNING

He led them forth by the right way.

I n the wasteland, a howling wilderness; He encircled [Jacob], He instructed him, He kept him as the apple of His eye. As an eagle stirs up its nest, hovers over its young, spreading out its wings, taking them up, carrying them on its wings, so the LORD alone led him. Even to your old age, I am He, and even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you.

He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His names sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

The LORD will guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and strengthen your bones; you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail. For this is God, our God forever and ever; He will be our guide even to death. Who teaches like Him?

PS. 107:7; DEUT. 32:1012; ISA. 46:4; PS. 23:34; ISA. 58:11; PS. 48:14; JOB 36:22

EVENING

What do you want Me to do for you? He said, Lord, that I may receive my sight.

O pen my eyes, that I may see wondrous things from Your law.

And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory... give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power.

LUKE 18:41; PS. 119:18; LUKE 24:45; JOHN 14:26; JAMES 1:17; EPH. 1:1719

MORNING

For as yet you have not come to the rest and the inheritance which the LORD your God is giving you.

T his is not your rest. There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. Behind the veil, where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus.
