"And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free" (John 8:32).

Never in the history of the world has it been more important for the Christian warrior to know the truth of the Word of God and the authority we possess in Jesus Christ than at this moment in history. Far too often the child of God allows Satan to bluff, bluster and coerce him into submission and defeat when he has ready to aid him all the power of the resurrected, victorious Christ!

The problem? Lack of knowledge. "My people perish for lack of knowledge" (Hos. 4:6). Oh, that we might know how to use the Word of God as Jesus did when He defeated Satan with, "Itiswritten."

Paul Billheimer has drawn from the Word of God "The Technique of Spiritual Warfare" which, if put into practice by the child of God, will turn defeat into victory, tragedy into triumph! Preface

The Christian life is indeed a warfare. Unless we view it as such and learn the techniques of overcoming our adversary, we are going to live a life of defeat. The message found in Part I of Destinedto Overcome was designed to assist the believer in recognizing his "weapons" and teach him some skills in using them effectively in every aspect of his prayer life. We need to know that God has made every provision for us to be morethan conquerors through Him that loved us andgave himself FOR US.

"The Technique of Spiritual Warfare" was shared with our radio audience and published in our own publication in the year 1952. It is here reproduced, with slight modifications, as it was released almost thirty years ago. Because it was controversial then, and according to some, it may be now, a letter from Dr. F. J. Huegel is attached. Dr. Huegel was a lifelong missionary to Mexico and is the well-known author of Bone of His Bone,The Cross of ChristThe Throne of God, and many other spiritual classics. His letter was unsolicited and was received shortly after this message was first published:

Our friendship has deep roots, although we donot often write to each other. I have just beenreading "The Technique of Spiritual Warfare,"and it has brought you forcibly before me. Part II, "Developing the Personal Prayer Life," was written under this title at the invitation of the Program Committee for the American Festival of Evangelism which convened in Kansas City, July 27-30, 1981. It was my privilege to deliver this message in one of the workshops of that historic gathering of spiritual leaders.

While many cardinal truths contained in Destinedfor the Throne concerning the theology of prayer are incorporated in this message, there is much additional teaching that is vital to the successful prayer life of the believer.

Prayer is a warfare. We need to understand some basic theology of successful praying in order to use our weapons effectively. This message fits' hand-in-hand with the message of Part I, "The Technique of Spiritual Warfare" as a handbook for the intercessor.

In the mid to late thirties when our radio min- istry began, there was comparatively little teaching on faith for divine healing. I had been healed from terminal tuberculosis about ten years previously and only through diligent study of the Word, prayer, and two or three available books on the subject had I come into some kind of a theology of faith for healing. The subject was new to most of our listeners and multitides were hungry for teaching from the Word. Part III of this book, "Turning on the Switch," was a part of a continued daily radio teaching along this line in the early part of 1939 and was published in our little paper,
