Acknowledgments

Exploring the realm of paranormal investigations has been an exciting experience. Being clairvoyant, I have always readily accepted the fact that we can, and do, communicate with discarnate souls. I have spent my entire life in communication, in one form or another, with entities in other realms of existence. However, although this is very easy for me, I never entertained the idea of, nor felt the need for, proof of their existence. They just were!

Robert Kolodzik and Kathy James Thank you, Robert and Kathy. Without you there may not have been a first ghost hunt. Your expertise and humor as well as your patient instruction made it possible for me to expand my psychic awareness and provided me with even further proof, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that there is no death, and we do not die.

Sharon Howe Thank you for your constant support, your laughter, and, most of all, your never-ending ghost-hunting enthusiasm.

Ricky Joe Goodwin and Christy Bates Thank you for your love and support and your enthusiastic motivation on our ghost hunts. Bless you both.

Kay Ainsworth My ghost-busting buddy and my own personal cheerleader. No matter what new, weird, odd, or unusual adventure I embark upon, I always have your support! A special thank you! Also, Katie, I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation for sharing your time, energy, and expertise throughout the process of writing this book.

Franklin Lon g Thank you, Franklin, for allowing me to experience my spirituality in all its varied forms. Your support means everything to me.

Tamatha Williams I can never thank you enough for your empowering love and affection as well as your energetic assessment of our psychic gifts and talents and your willingness to explore life with me.

Douglas and Gloria Perry You are great! Thanks for all your love and support as we ventured through our portal of understanding. Douglas, your ghost-questing spirit is amazing!

Jane Cheatham Thank you for your encouragement and your sincere belief in my writing talent!

And last, but by no means least, many thanks to Mitchel Whitington , writer and friend who read the manuscript for this book and gave me invaluable assistance and guidance. To say I appreciate you is simply not enough!

Happy Ghosting!

Introduction

My first recollection of ghosts came at the age of five while I was visiting my paternal grandmother in the early 1950s. She lived deep in the woods of East Texas and was never at a loss for words when it came to telling ghost stories. She was also clairvoyant, and Im sure this enabled her to see and hear more than most.

Late one afternoon as we were sitting on her front porch, I saw a huge puff of smoky mist encircling her favorite gardenia bush. Already seduced by the fragrant smell of the flowers and a lazy afternoon, I wondered if I was really seeing what appeared to be floating all around the bush. When I told her what I was seeing, she just smiled at me and said, Oh, thats just a haint, it dont mean you no harm. I was fascinated by the way it appeared very dense and then in the next instant willowy and wispy. It could change direction at will and just as easily change form, and then suddenly it just disappeared into the fast approaching darkness of a sleepy Texas sky.

My second experience came at the age of ten, while I was squirrel hunting with my dad. We left home very early in the morning, and although I had begged for weeks for Dad to take me with him, I wasnt prepared for the cold, damp, eerie woods we encountered. I had promised to be quiet, which was an overwhelming task that took every ounce of self-restraint I had. Then we saw them! Suddenly, there appeared before us three huge, thick, white forms floating in between and around the trees in the thicket. I have to tell you I let out a scream that shook the leaves on the trees. These white entities stretched out until they were very long and then drew themselves back up into huge, elongated oval shapes. I was stunned beyond words, which was amazing in and of itself. Dad, however, remained calm, and I thought to myself that he was the bravest man on the face of the earth. He quietly explained to me that they were the ghosts of men who had died and that they meant us no harm. We stood there watching them watching us, for what seemed like an eternity. Then, just as quickly as they appeared, they evaporated into the damp morning air! Im afraid my father didnt accomplish any serious hunting, as I was constantly looking over my shoulder and walking into trees. I realize now that Dad was also clairvoyant, although he kept this well hidden from everyone most of his life. They mean us no harm! This was the message I received from both my grandmother and my father. So with this in mind, lets explore the realm of ghosts.
