Clint Hurdle, manager of the Pittsburgh Pirates
Faith and baseball have always been important in my life. As a kid, I wanted to play professional baseball, but God had a different plan for my life. I always loved hearing stories of how faith played a major role in the lives of some of our most famous major leaguersthose stories encouraged me. My friend and author, Del Duduit, takes examples from some of baseballs greatest players and compiles their stories of faith into an encouraging devotional that I highly recommend.

This book is dedicated to my oldest son Gabe.
You have turned out to be a wonderful example of a fine Christian man with a beautiful family. Everyone who knows you tells me how much they enjoy your preaching and your sense of humor. I agree, but am also partial to your ability and talent to cook.
Over the past year, while I have written this book, I reflected back on our time together as father and son, when you played baseball and I was one of your coaches.
I may have been tough on you at times, as most fathers are on their own, but I hope you had fun and entertain fond memories.
I recall your graceful belly-flop slides into second base and have vivid memories of your first home run in a game in Stockdale, Ohio.
One of my most cherished memories was when we took a day trip to Chicago to watch the Cubs play at historic Wrigley Field. Sammy Sosa blasted three dingers that day, and later we ate deep-dish pizza at Pizzeria Uno on Ohio Street.
But perhaps the most significant memory I have of you is not related to sports. I was alone on business in a hotel room in Parkersburg, West Virginia, in 2017. I was in bed, and my phone buzzed. You sent a text message on March 21 at 11:08 p.m. and told me how proud you were of me for pursuing my passion to write this book.
Ill always keep that text, and it inspires me when I get down. This is one reason I dedicate the first book in this series to you, Gabe.
Your love for baseball does not compare to your desire to be a wonderful Christian son, husband, and fatherthat means everything to your mom and me.
I love you and am beyond proud to be your dad. Youll never know how you inspire me to be better, every day.
Dad
