What people are saying about
Come and See
I love Todd Wagner, his family, and Watermark Church. With people in large numbers giving up on the church, I love that Todd still loves it. So do I. If you want to have hope for Christs church, dig in to this thoughtful, well-written, and engaging book. Come and see the Jesus who adores his church and can still make her a wonder to behold.
Randy Alcorn, author of Heaven, If God Is Good, and Managing Gods Money
Todd Wagner is one of the most effective Christian leaders Ive ever known. In his new book, Come and See, he extends a gospel-centered invitation to the local church to trust Jesus in every aspect of our lives and worship. This book will equip older saints, brand-new believers, veteran pastors, new church members, and really, all of us.
Russell Moore, president of Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention
Todd Wagner has a prophetic urgency for the church to rise up to its vocation. How many other churches do you know where people get dis-membered and re-membered every year? If its been a while since youve felt the depth of Gods calling on the churchor on your own lifeyou might want to come and see.
John Ortberg, senior pastor of Menlo Church, Menlo, CA
Todd Wagner has this way of delivering truth with a straightforward, no-nonsense clarity and simplicity that leaves you feeling hit between the eyes and loved at the same time. This book is no exception. Todds love for the Scriptures and, especially, its Author is inspiring and contagious. His trust of the Scriptures and, especially, its Author is downright challenging.
John Stonestreet, president of the Colson Center for Christian Worldview
Todd Wagner has a burning passion to see the local church become all that Jesus has called her to be. With clarity and conviction he paints a picture of believers who actually are the church rather than merely going to church. Come and See will both challenge and inspire you to do your part to help the church be all shes supposed to be.
Larry Osborne, author and pastor of North Coast Church, Vista, CA
In Come and See we have a book that makes much of God, His Church, and His mission that is wrapped in both boldness and grace. This is the kind of book both believers and seekers should be reading.
Matt Chandler, teaching pastor of The Village Church and president of Acts 29 Church Planting Network
Helpful. Accessible. Freeing. Our God is an inviter. Im so grateful for Todd Wagner and the way he shares Gods invitational heart and passion to see people come alive in Jesus. Come and See is a must-read for anyone, at any point, on their journey to Jesusfrom the newborn believer to the seasoned leader looking for a resource to help bring others along. This is a book youll want to keep close by.
Louie Giglio, pastor of Passion City Church, founder of Passion Conferences, and author of Goliath Must Fall

This book is dedicated to the thousands of friends who, like I do, call Watermark their spiritual home and who so patiently admonish, encourage, and help me more fully experience the Life I have always wanted. You all are living examples of all that I have written about. May the Lord multiply your kind all over the earth. Ultimately however, it is dedicated to and especially an expression of thanks to the kind Father who is forever for me, whose Son was given for me, and whose Spirit provides everything I need to know and make known all that is Life indeed. May you alone be glorified in this work, and may millions more come and see the goodness and grace that exist only in You.
To the first I am temporally and to the latter I am eternally thankful.

Authors Note
Before you turn to the first real pages of this book, let me address a few things about the journey we are about to take together. Years ago, when I was first approached by some publishers about writing a book, I offered to do so if they would agree to entitle it The Book You Should Not Read. You likely arent surprised that their marketing department was not wild about the idea.
My pitch was that the book would be about the beauty, sufficiency, perfection, and life-giving goodness of the Word of God. It was a Truth that had taken me a long time to learn, and it is a Truth to which I now gladly commit to respond for the rest of my lifetime. My reasoning was simple: if there is any book you should read through, pray in, live out, and pass around, that would be the book I would want to write. And since that book had already been written, I didnt think it to be wise to write a book that did anything but commend you to other one and the beauty, sufficiency, perfection, and life-giving goodness of the gospel of Jesus that it celebrates from beginning to end. With that little bit of history, it might be easier for you to understand the structure and flow of the book you now find in your hands.
First of all, as the pages begin to pile up to your left, you will notice that more and more footnotes will pile up at the bottom. I know this is not always a common thing to see in a book like this one. But the reason for this is simple: I want you to see where every crazy thing Im about to say comes from. In other words, I am not offering steps to the life you have always wanted out of my own wisdom; rather, I want to share with you Truth from the ages. Tried. Tested. Trustworthy. Proven. Truth I have experienced and Truth I am experiencing. Know then that the references in these footnotes are not meant to be passed over. Instead, it is my hope that reading
