For Parents and Teachers
Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to awise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded onthe rock (Matthew 7:24-25).
Dear Moms and Dads:
When I think of my fathers memorial service and the individual testimoniesof each of his six children, I am reminded of the tremendous legacy he left us. Indifferent words and styles, each of us conveyed the samebasic theme: Dad always stood up for what he believed,he taught his children to love the Word of God, and healways insisted that the authority of Gods Word takesprecedence over the fallible words of man. My dadsfavorite book was his personal Biblehe loved it. It iswell-worn and his study notes appear throughout it.
His words, life, and example demonstrated to me thatthe only foundation necessary to withstand lifes manystorms is the knowledge of God through His Word.
You, too, are leaving a legacy to the children in your life. Is your love for theBible shaping them and the way they look at the world? I pray that this littlebook will equip you to lead your children to Gods Word to find the answers tothe questions they have. And that one day, by the power of His Word, they willrepent of their sins and claim Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. To God bethe glory!

Question:
I dont know if I believe in Godbecause, I mean, who made Godanyway?
Jason W.
Age 11 Alabama, USA
Answer:
I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, says the Lord, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty (Revelation 1:8).
Well, Jason, a lot of very smart people have asked this question. Afterall, if everything has a beginning or is made out of something or had acreator, then people think God must have had one too! So, lets thinkabout it. If someone made God, then you must have a bigger God whomade that God... and a bigger, bigger God who made that bigger Godwho made God... then a bigger, bigger, bigger God who made thebigger, bigger God who made the bigger God who made God. You see,Jason, we could go on and on and on. The only thing that makes senseis we have to have the biggest God of all. Godthe God of the Bibleisthe Creator of everything. Nothing and no one is bigger than Him. Hewas not created but has always existed. He is the Alpha (beginning) andOmega (end). The Bible says, In the beginning, God created the heavensand the earth. In the beginning God was already there and He createdall things to teach us more about Him and to show us His power, Hisgoodness, and His wisdom.
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
- Genesis 1:1
The heavens declare the glory of God;
And the firmament shows His handiwork.
- Psalm 19:1
You are worthy, O Lord,
To receive glory and honor and power;
For You created all things,
And by Your will they exist and were created.
- Revelation 4:11
Question:
What does God look like?
Calista M.
Age 8 New Hampshire, USA
Answer:
... who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whomno man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power.Amen (1 Timothy 6:16).
How wonderful it will be to finally see God in all His glory. We readthat God lives in light so bright that we could never come near it, andthat He is a spirit. When the prophet Ezekiel described his vision ofGod, he included bright fire, flashes of lightning, even the brightnessof a rainbow in a cloud on a rainy day. But we are ALL sinners and theBible says because of this, we are blind to spiritual things. We are bornsinners because of Adams disobedience in the Garden of Eden. Andwe cant see God because of our sinfulness. So while we are here onearth, we cannot see Him, we cannot know what He looks like, eventhough He is present with us. However, we see the glory of God inthe face of Jesus Christ as revealed in the Bible. Now there is goodnews. God loved us and He had a plan that would save us. Jesus Christstepped into history as a man, died on a cross, and rose from thedead. He promises that everyone who believes in Him, who calls onHis name, who is sorry for his or her sins, and receives His free gift offorgiveness and salvation, will one day be with Him in heavenwherewe will finally see our holy, merciful God.
- Ezekiel 1
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God
- Romans 3:23
God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.
- John 4:24
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
- John 3:16
For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
- 2 Corinthians 4:6
Question:
Where is God? Why cant I seehim?
Rachael S.
Age 6 Ohio, USA
Answer:
But He said, You cannot see My face; for no man shall see Me, and live (Exodus 33:20).
We cant see God because He is a spiritbut the Bible says Mosesspoke to God face to face! Can we see God like Moses? The Bible tells usHe is omnipresent by His Spirit. That means He is everywhere and seeseverything all the time. That is very hard to understand, and seems simplyamazing, even to me! I get a tiny idea of just how amazing it is when I flyin an airplane (which I do quite a bit). When I go over a big city like LosAngeles or New York and I look down I see thousands and thousandsof lightscars, houses, buildings, shopping malls, lots of people downthere. I realize that God sees them at soccer, at the mall, in the house, atchurch, in the park, playing with their friends, He sees EVERYONE andKNOWS what they are doing! He also knows our hearts. He knows whatwe are thinking. He knows whether we love Him. He knows our needs. He is everywhere, Rachael, and He knows everything about you. Andeven though we accept this by faith, it is not a blind faith. You see, whatwe read in Gods Word, which is the primary way God communicatesto us today, makes sense of what we see in Gods world. Also, in manyways, science confirms Gods Word is true. Now God revealed Himselfto us in the person of Jesuswhen He came to earth as a man. AndRachael, lots of eyewitnesses saw Jesus and the miracles He did! Todaywe see Him through the words of the Bible.
