How to Use This Book

Its PB&J time. Time to feast on the hearty protein of Gods Word mixed with the sweet goodness of grace. Let the truth stick to the roof of your mouth and satisfy your hunger. This study will offer a full meal for you on the subjects of hotness, sexiness, and all that happens with your body, mind, and spirit when it comes to how you look.

With this study, you can expect to learn about how guys look at you, how God looks at you, and how your thoughts and actions impact the minds of the guys around you. Some might call it a study on modesty, but I just call it a study on hotness.

Unlike other Bible studies, this one will help you by giving you the answers you look for when youre wondering if Vogue or your parents are more right about your wardrobe. And it isnt just a fill-in-the-blank, hope-you-got-it-right kind of study. Its a guided tour of Gods Word, filled with helpful suggestions and truths as well as thought-provoking and self-exploring questions.

You can do this study on your own or in a group, but in a group or with a partner is ideal (more on that in a minute). And you can peer lead or find an adult to do it with you. So here you have it, a study for girls who are interested in Gods thoughts on sexy, hotness, and dressing to attract guys. For girls who want more from their walk with God and are willing to face the truth about their unknown sins, slip-ups, and near misses.

Before we get started, though, lets just lay out some good rules of thumb.

Your Girl Crew

First of all, let me say that I hope you are doing this study with at least one other girl. Its really hard to judge for yourself how you are dressing, and it helps to have the eyes of other girls to help you figure things out. This study is perfect for a group of girls or even for just two, but however you do it, please, please find someone else to get a copy and do it with you. I promise that with a friend, you will be much more successful. So if you dont have a friend or a group of friends reading this same book and meeting with you at least once a week to talk about it, then run, dont walk, to the nearest phone and call a friend. Get the girls in your youth group to get a book of their own, talk to your youth pastor, whatever it takesjust get someone who will go through this journey with you.

Once you get your girls and they get their books, make plans to meet once a week to go over each chapter. You can chat about what you read, share answers, and share ideas about dressing cute. But wait, theres more. This isnt just a book about fashion; its a Bible study. That means everyone brings a Bible to the mix. You might even want a concordance to help you look up stuff when you start digging into Gods Word. I think youll be surprised how much your wardrobe choices or changes will impact your relationship with God. The more you find out about what he wants and how he thinks, even about your bod and your closet, the closer youll get to him. So this is more than just a study of clothing. Its a study of the mind of Godhis thoughts and his desires for you. So if you are ready, lets dive into a study of Gods Word and what it has to do with your closet.

How do you look when you walk out the door?

If you havent thought about it, its time to start thinkin. Just like your favorite starlet, you too have a PR campaign that tells everyone what to think about you, and its called your wardrobe. Whether you throw on whatever is clean or spend hours trying on and taking off outfits that used to look good on you and now are ug-a-lee, your threads are making a huge statement about who you are and how you want to be treated.

You know the old saying Dont judge a book by its cover? The package something comes in isnt always a good sign of whats inside, but the truth is that most of the time the cover says it all. Lets talk food. Lets say you have two bananas sitting in front of you, and you have to eat one. The one on the left is yellow with a little bit of green around the top and bottom. And the one on the right is yellow with lots of brown spots all over it. In fact, the spots look a lot like a huge handprint. And the shape seems oddly out of whacka little flat in the middle where it should be round. So go ahead, make a guess. Which one will taste the best? You know before the first bite. And how do you know? From experience. Over time you have tasted bananas with bad peels and figured out that what shows on the outside tells you a lot about whats going on in the inside. And its not just about bananas. Its true of all kinds of food as well as books, CDs, presents, cars, and, yes, even girls.

Think about the jock girls you know. How do they dress? What do their clothes say about who they are, what they love, and how they live? Now think about some of the preps you know. What do their ensembles say about what they love and how they spend their time? Clothes are a great clue about whos underneath. And most of us subconsciously get that. We pick clothes that make us feel good, clothes that make a statement, or clothes that serve a function we think is crucial, like comfort or style.

So what do your wardrobe choices say about you? How do you decide what to put on each day? And most of all, how do you think people look at you, think about you, and treat you based on how you dress? You might not have given it a thought before, so dont sweat it if you are drawing a blank. Well get to the bottom of your style before the end of this book. And then youll be able to tell instantly whats going on in your head when you put on your clothes each morning.
