Let me say to you essentially what I said to readers of No More Sheets: You did not purchase this journal for mere information or entertainment. You are entering a 40-day journey to relocate your body parts. You are reading and journaling to find your identity.1 You are reading these words at this moment in time because you want victory over the sheets.
My prayer is that, by the time you complete Day 40, you will have met the person you lost so long ago. You will have become reacquainted with who you really are and you are going to like who you see.2
Those are outstanding outcomes and well worth achieving! I encourage youwith every fiber of my beingto dig in and interact with each page. Enter the daily entries prayerfully and with a heart that is open to God. Consider what you are reading; confront yourself with the truths you discover. Then engage each question thoughtfully. Answer it honestly and without the weight of shame or condemnation. God sees your heart. He knows why you are here. He will work with you and in you to produce the change that you and He desire.
As you write out your answers, you will learn more than you can imagine about God, about yourself, and about your future. Thats the beauty of journaling. It is a healing process between you and God. It brings you face to face with self-diminishing thoughts, misconceptions, and misunderstandings that operate in the background of your life. It will help you to pinpoint these deceivers and root them out of your heart.
Completing this journal will also help you to remember what you really want and who you are destined by God to be. It will remind you that who and what you are has absolutely nothing to do with what you do; it has everything to do with what Christ has done. He paid the pricein full.
You are His beloved. He has not left you to your own devices. He stands ready to lead youday by dayinch by inchmoment by moment. I know, because He has done it for me through many ups and downs, many good times and many days of sorrow.
My prayer for you is an all-out prayer of victory in Christ. The apostle Paul stated it perfectly and now I pray this for you:
That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him: the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of His calling, and what the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of His mighty power, which He wrought in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead, and set Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: and hath put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be the head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fulness of Him that filleth all in all (Ephesians 1:17-23).
Your freedom march begins now. No more sheets!

And when He [Jesus] thus had spoken, He cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go (John 11:43-44).
Sheets are layers of bondage that have affected your emotions through sexual experiences. A lot of single men and women are bound up today. Sisters are carrying the baggage of past relationships and sexual encounters. Brothers arent free to answer Gods call on their lives. Weighed down with guilt, shame, and regret, these believers have become ineffective for the Kingdom. You see, sheets will affect your walk with God.
Dont think youre exempt because youre a Christian. If you jumped in and out of the sheets with someone who was not your spouse, those sexual experiences have bound you up. It will take work to get free, and you are going to need some help!
Yes, you may be born again. You may have experienced resurrection power. But you may be unable to enjoy the blessings of God because of those sheets. Like Lazarus, you need those grave clothes to loose you and let you go.
(No More Sheets, Revised Edition, Pages 33-34)
1. Often, the sheets have their way with us because we are blinded to the bondage they bring. Has this blindness operated in your life? Explain. When were your eyes opened, and how?
2. How has the weight of guilt, shame, or regret affected your overall demeanor? How might you feel freer to serve in the Kingdom without the sheets?
3. Breaking out of the sheets requires some effort. Like any process, it begins with a first step. What first step will you take today?
4. How has being in the sheets hindered you from enjoying Gods blessings? Be specific.
5. What kind of help do you need to be loosed from the grave clothes that are the sheets? Who might be able to provide that help?
