Ive had many breakdowns in my life as well as many breakthroughs. When I look back upon my life, I see the purpose to it all: the good, the bad, and the ugly. Sometimes Ive dropped down on my knees, cried out to the heavens, Why?! and heard nothing back. Thats because I was feeling sorry for myself. I know that I wasnt really asking, Why? because if I had, Spirit wouldve given me the answer. I secretly feared that Spirit would make a suggestion that I would not want to follow through with. Spirit always answers your prayers when you are open and willing. When Ive been quiet enough and listened attentively and openly, Spirit has always guided me to a solution. As I open my heart to Spirit, I always feel it being filled with such love that I am awed by how miraculous life is.

After a big miracle breakthrough, you no longer wake up overwhelmed and you never go to sleep plagued with anxiety. You dont dread the phone ringing for fear of a demand from a debt collector or negative words from a family member. Youve moved past numerous obstacles you formerly believed were insurmountable. Because of your sacred relationship with Spirit, you always seek spiritual growth, which means that achieving breakthroughs is now a part of your daily focus. I began my spiritual quest to understand the meaning of life when I was six years old in my bedroom in Hampstead, London. Every night I knelt by the side of my bed and prayed for my family, because I was often overcome with a fear that I might lose them. On the one hand, I felt Spirit all around me, loving, protecting, and guiding me, and on the other hand, I felt fear of death and, in the pit of my stomach, pain and sadness. I was a very sensitive child, and I tried to soothe those feelings with food. Im still sensitive as an adultbut now I have the tools in this book to keep me aligned and peaceful.

As a young person, I often questioned why I felt I wasnt enough. Ive always been very empathetic. I feel other peoples feelings just as much as my own. I went through a phase in my teens and early twenties during which I tried to drown out my sensitivity by partying hard. I didnt do drugs, but I was drawn to addicts. I made it my mission to rescue others as a way to deflect myself from confronting my own issues. I felt more comfortable around wacky people in chaos, because they made me feel normal.

I also tried to fit in and be a good worker. One day at my corporate finance job in London, while reading the spiritual novel The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield during my lunch break, I realized I couldnt sustain the life I was leading. I felt I had to go to Peru, as did the characters in the book. I had to go and experience the insights the author wrote about. It was a pivotal moment for me. Within a couple of months, Id left that job, rented out my London condo, and gone off on a global spiritual adventure. I was happy living a Spirit-driven life.

I spent many hours speaking and doing spiritual rituals with people of many indigenous cultures: from camping out in the desert by the ancient Nazca Lines to joining prayer circles at Machu Picchu in Peru; from visiting Isla del Sol (Island of the Sun) and Isla de la Luna (Island of the Moon) in Lake Titicaca, sites revered by the ancient Incas, to doing secret ceremonies in Egyptian pyramids and at various sacred sites along the Nile River. I was initiated into the Rosicrucian Order and spent time with medicine men and women from Navajo, Hopi, Chumash, and Amazonian tribes, participating with them in their prayers and dances. I went and connected with Aborigines in Australia and Maori in New Zealand and immersed myself in spiritual connection with others who were seeking or already deeply connected to Spirit. Regardless of the location, language, or kind of ritual, there were common threads in every tradition I learned about that led to the same experience of Spirit.

Spirit does not discriminate. Spirit always responds to genuine requests for guidance and supports our heartfelt intentions and desires, no matter how we express ourselves. Each person, in each culture, holds his or her own interpretation of Spirit, but fundamentally Spirit is the same for everyone. Spirit is everywhere.
