Introduction

I was born in that world where poverty and ignorance cause great pain and suffering. There is hardly anyone able to climb free from the darkness and cultural despair. The journey to freedom and the bridge seems to be uncrossable from the other side.

My life's desire was to find my way free of the destiny my impoverished life had for me. Immediately after leaving that world, a strong desire was born in me to help people caught in the traps and snares of life.

Though I know poverty is a great snare, its only one of lifes pains. You see, even those who live free from financial impoverishment, still have emotional and spiritual crisis and struggles.

The things commonly being presented as solutions are far too often not making men free, but instead, enslaving them to a life of servitude. Few are fully alive nor fully able to dream. I desire to help you find the fullness of freedom. If you will let me, I will also teach you how to help others find joy also.

Accompanying Material

I mention in this book the accompanying video training and the Dream Planner workbook. You will find free versions on my website as well as the ability to buy a printed copy of the Dream Planner workbook.

Chapter 1
Welcome to Your Dream Life

Life Without Dreams

My life is dedicated to helping you find your dreams and achieve great things. This is one of my main motivations in life because I was destined for failure and death.

As a highschool dropout, fatherless since the age of two, without hope, without culture, training or direction, my life was set for a desperate end.

During my highschool years, I was voted, Most likely to die of a drug overdose. I so lacked the tools and direction in life that by the time I was 18, I was sleeping in a friends closet, hiding there while her mom was home and only coming out when she went to work.

In that closet, I had my first epiphany. While sitting in the dark waiting for my next bologna sandwich to be passed under the door, I realized for the first time that I could figure out what other people did to become successful and just do that.

The first story of success I told myself was this, The guy who owns this two story house that I am hiding in, was just six years earlier a Cuban refugee and had escaped imprisonment after his family was murdered by his government. This man arrived to the USA not knowing the English language, had no American education and no connections. But six years later, he was a surgeon working for a top hospital in New Jersey and making 150,000 a year. For 19 , that was huge money.

This is the first premise of success: If someone can, so can you. You would think that growing up in the USA, I had all the right foundations. Instead, here I was 18 years old, with twelve years of an American education, and living in a closet.

I have spent many, many years learning what it takes to not live in someone else's closet and have gotten so good at it, that I now have dedicated my life to helping others get free from theirs.

Dream-Based Living

This book is a culmination of 30 years of reading, teaching and learning from those who are achieving success. I have coached thousands of entrepreneurs and families on these principles of life and success.

Any book to help you change, will require three things.

Number one is MINDSET. If you have stinking thinking, you will fail no matter how much you learn.

Number two is SKILL SET, or what I like to call the HACKS. These are the things people do to win in life, gain friendships, get rich, live happy.

Number three is HABIT. I added to this book what I think is the missing piece in most self-help books: the tools and techniques to make habit of the things you learn and build your life around what is truly important.

Statistics

I refuse to bore you with statistics, but I think it is important for us to know how prevalent sadness is within todays society and how a book like this can add so much to our human experiences. As you read these pages, Id like you to consider and learn these skills for more than one reason: not just how you can be better or more productive or find your dreams, but also how to take these lessons as a future guide into your community and help others find fulfillment.

Many studies have been done with varying results. But the numbers I am about to show you are probably not far off from your experiences and of people you know.

Studies show that 85% of the people who work, dislike or hate their job. With couples, 50% of all marriages end in divorce and many of those who do remain married, are not excited about their marriage and current relationships. I mention these two examples since they are probably the most studied and the most obvious. The point of these examples is: almost 100% of these same people entered into the new job or the marriage with very high hopes and excitement. But something went wrong and in some cases so wrong they will never be truly happy again. Lets fix this.

Only Six Things Required

With all the studies and all the self-help focus for the last 100 years, there has emerged a list of the top six things a person looks for to be happy and fulfilled.

The point of this list is not to argue its accuracy or whether it is complete, or even redundant. The point of the list is to get you to take stock of your life and help others to find where they might be stuck. The list simply helps identify the top areas for focus.
