Every person on earth was born with a deep desire to know God. Rules and regulations only make up a religion that can never truly satisfy man. In this book, you will learn how to talk to God through prayer. Prayer was created for us to go deeper in God and to see His heart revealed. Depth in prayer means praying from Gods perspective and knowing His heart concerning your life.

The Model Prayer

The effectual fervent prayer of arighteous man availeth much .

James 5:16b (KING JAMESVERSION)

Prayer is one of the most powerful toolsavailable for the believer and yet, it is also the least exercisedin our spiritual walk.
In my own experience, the biggest problem Ihad with prayer was that I didnt think it worked when I prayed. Ikept feeling as though other people prayed better than me andsometimes, I stumbled over my words while in Gods presence.
The more inadequate I felt in my ability topray, the more I dreaded the next encounter. Its like a child thatavoids talking about school related matters because he knows thathis grades are a mess.
When I finally learned about the love ofGod and how much he longed to help me in my weakness, thatstronghold had to leave.

So too the [Holy] Spirit comes toour aid and bearsus up in our weakness; for we do not know what prayer tooffer nor how tooffer it worthily as we ought, but the Spirit Himself goes to meetour supplication and pleads in our behalf with unspeakable yearnings and groanings too deepfor utterance.

Romans 8:26 (amp).

It is Gods desire to help us when we dontknow how to pray. God is not waiting to point out every mistake youmake while praying. His heart is of a loving Father who willrespond to the cry of his children. In our weakness, God himselfhas provided a helper, the Holy Spirit to help us overcome thebarriers we face throughout life.
Jesus spoke of a widow who had been wrongedbut sought justice from the judge of that city. The judge isdescribed as a godless man who had no regard for man. The womankept coming back even though he stubbornly refused to give herjustice. Eventually, she wore him out and he gave her what shewanted.

Yet because this widow continuesto bother me, I will defend and protect and avenge her, lest she give me [ a ] intolerableannoyance and wear me out by her continual coming or [ b ] atthe last she come and rail on me or [ c ] assaultme or [ d ] strangleme .

Luke 18:5 (amp).

The reason why Jesus told the parable wasto teach us how to pray continuously and never give up.

Then the Lord said, Listen to whatthe unjust judge says! And will not [ourjust] God defend and protect and avenge His elect (His chosen ones), who cry to Him day andnight? Will HE DEFER them and DELAY help on their behalf?

Luke 18:6-7 (amp).

Our prayers are not avoided by God or evenput in a box to collect dust. He hears every word that is spokenand responds to us speedily.
THE MODEL PRAYER

After this manner therefore prayye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thyname. Thy kingdom come,Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive ourdebtors. And lead us notinto temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is thekingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Matthew 6:9-13 (KING JAMESVERSION)

The prayer above was meant to guide us aswe pray by acting as an outline. The first portion describes ourworship as we approach a holy and righteous God. He is not cold andunapproachable but a dear and loving Papa who loves usunconditionally. We must grasp this concept for us to have successin our prayers.
Jesus always knew where he stood with hisFather and his confidence to do the works He did came from thatplace of intimacy. If I see God as a mean Father who likespunishing me for every bad thing I do, then how can I trust Himwith my deepest needs?
Jesus Christ took the place of punishmentfor me so that I can walk in confidence with my God. He facedseparation with His Father so that I could live forever in thesecurity of my Fathers love.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth,as it is in heaven
The second part addresses the fact thatGods Kingdom came through Jesus Christ and that it is powerfullyadvancing in the earth. We are Christs ambassadors; here toadvance the heavenly Kingdom and to see the impossible becomepossible as Gods will becomes a reality on earth (2 Corinthians5:20).
We should never feel limited or inadequate.God has more than in enough resources for us in the heavenlyaccount. We should always operate from that place of abundance inChrist because His Kingdom is so wildly rich. We can pray forth forGods will to be done on earth because we have been given authorityto release His Kingdom on earth.
When I find sickness and bondage, I havethe authority to release Gods healing and freedom because of theHoly Spirits power residing in me. It is through Gods Holy Spiritwe can be able to break free from all barriers and walk in theabundant life of Jesus Christ.
Give us this day our daily bread .
The next portion of the prayer deals withour requests that we make known to God. The bible commands us notto worry about anything because our heavenly Father knows our needs(Matthew 6:25). It is important to note that as we pray, we neverdo so with fear or worry in our hearts. We approach God knowingthat He already knows our needs, and that He has made a way forus.
It is amazing what a change of perspectivedoes to an individual. When you realize that your purpose in prayeris not to beg God to provide for you but to actually entrust yourneeds to a faithful Father, your prayer life isrevolutionized.

Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definiterequests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known toGod.

Philippians 4:6 (amp).

Notice how the bible includes withthanksgiving in your prayer time. We cannot be thankful andoverwhelmed with burdens at the same time. We must understand thatour burdens belong to the Lord and He will gladly take them off ourshoulders.

Come unto me, all ye that labourand are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Matthew 11:28 (KING JAMESVERSION).

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive ourdebtors.
After worship, and declaring Gods will, wepresent our requests, and then ask for forgiveness as we forgiveothers who have wronged us. This is so important that Jesus goes onto say that,

For if ye forgive men theirtrespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if yeforgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgiveyour trespasses.

Matthew 6:14-15 (KING JAMESVERSION).

Sometimes our greatest breakthrough comeswhen we release someone weve held in our hearts with bitternessand anger. Unforgiveness veils our eyes from seeing others as Godsees them. We can become so consumed in hurt and anger that westart speaking curses over the lives of those veryindividuals.
This is very dangerous because it causes ablockage on the flow of blessings in our lives. Our own sins arenot forgiven and the blessings we enjoy through Jesus Christ areblocked until we forgive.
