What Is Steampunk?
Steampunk is a creative genre that imagines an alternate history of 19th-
century technology. Its devotees employ a fanciful blend of fantasy, science
fiction, and historical adventure to tell their stories. Electricity has just started
to enter the realm of the common inventor, but steam-powered machines are
the tools of the day. Clockwork gears and mechanisms are often exposed for
ease of service and ease of appreciation. Daring inventors float through the
skies and roam the countryside in their fantastic contraptions.
The artists, authors, and filmmakers who work in the Steampunk genre
value independence, creativity, and whimsywhich makes LEGO a perfect
embodiment of the Steampunk philosophy. LEGO builders dont want mass-
produced, generic things but tools from which we can build our own unique
ideas and creations.
Within these well-worn pages you will find an extensive collection of the
worlds greatest Steampunk builders and the wonders they have created. Page
after page of mechanical marvels and scientific mysteries await you, intrepid
reader! Top up the oil in your lamp, put on your favorite goggles and top hat,
and lets explore!
Yours in Steampunkery,
Guy Himber

Sir Herbert Jobson
Sir Herbert Jobson is a trusted and highly regarded member
of Queen Victorias royal entourage. The Queen has seen
fit to honour him with knighthood in the Most Distinguished
Order of Fanciful Devices and appoint him to the post of
Queens Chronicler of Technology. In this capacity, he ven-
tures around the world and reports on exciting developments
in the Sciences and their potential for civilian and military
applications. His military know-how and seasoned diplomatic
savoir faire
serve him well as he compiles this Domesday
Book of scientific wonders.
