Many countries are into the manipulation of weather, according to their water needs. When countries face the problem of drought, they may resort to various cloud seeding techniques to overcome the crisis. However, the effectiveness of using chemical cloud seeding in promoting any sort of precipitation is not proved scientifically. It is not possible for all countries to attempt the large scale weather manipulation technique due to the heavy cost required for the process. Scientists suspect that some countries are using this as a defense method. Countries like the US and China are exploiting this technique for their needs. Scientists are considering the weather modification on a large scale to tackle the problem of global warming.

The UN convention in 1978 has banned any kind of hostile modification of the environment. However, during the International Symposium of 2010 held in Belgium, the scientists asserted that the modification of the weather using Cirrus clouds is fully operational and has a history of more than 60 years. Today, environmental modification has friendly use and acts as an answer to the climate change, water shortage and famine. Though most of the countries are turning to weather modification, the governments are reluctant to publicly admit that they are using cloud seeding techniques. The Oxford University in UK is supporting geo-engineering programs to prevent global warming. According to them, with the use of light sulfur particles and aerosols, which are released to the atmosphere, it is possible to reflect the suns rays back into the space.

The process of manipulating weather is known under different names such as weather modification, chemical buffering, atmospheric geo-engineering, solar radiation management, weather force manipulation and cloud seeding. Toxic aerial sprays are used for cloud seeding purposes and these sprays are known as Chemtrails. Aero planes and explosive rockets containing the chemicals are used to seed the clouds which will encourage rain or snow fall. The commonly used chemicals for Chemtrails are silver iodide and dry ice. These chemical particles provide the surface for the water vapors in the clouds to condense and form liquid rain. Various polymers and metals are used for creating Chemtrails by different countries. The trails of clouds that are emitted by jet engines are not an unusual sight now. The jet engine exhaust contains hot air and water vapor. In higher areas in the atmosphere the air is very cold and has very low vapor pressure. This makes the exhaust coming out of the jet engine to quickly condense and form water droplets which may then crystallize to form ice. These are known as contrails or condensation trails. The trails formed by jet engines contain not only ice and water vapor, but other byproducts of burning of fuel such as carbon dioxide, sulfate particles, nitrogen oxides etc. The Chemtrails persist in the atmosphere for hours. Some scientist are under the suspicion that the US government is taking advantage of this process and using specific chemicals to manipulate the weather for different purposes.

The experts are worried about the use of Chemtrails and atmospheric Geo-engineering. Experts believe that the large scale manipulation of weather by one country will have major side effects such as affecting the normal rainfall of the world; it is difficult to stop weather manipulation once it is started as stopping the practice may bring abrupt change in the climate of the country. Moreover, using various chemicals such as sulfur for bio engineering of the atmosphere will have an adverse effect on the natural water cycle and cause more changes in rainfall pattern than caused by global warming which the weather manipulation is trying to prevent. Though the weather manipulation using Chemtrails is useful in reducing the sunlight, it does not give protection from pollution caused by carbon dioxide from automobile emissions, power stations and factories. This manipulation cannot prevent the chances of acidification of the ocean. This weather modification using chemicals can have a major impact on people living on this earth and for the future generations to come. Chemicals used for Chemtrail has a devastating effect on various water and land ecosystems.

During chemtrail spraying using the aero planes, the sky will be blanketed with grayish trails which are miles long. Military as well as commercial planes are used for spraying the chemicals in the atmosphere. Arsenic is poisonous chemical and barium causes heart problems in humans. Aluminum can cause damages to the brain function. Most of the chemicals in the chemtrail can cause asthma and upper respiratory problems. Moreover, when these chemicals reach to the earths surface, they get absorbed by the plants and get biologically magnified. When we use the produce from such plants these toxic chemicals reaches our body causing further damages. The people are becoming more aware about the manipulation of weather by governments for various reasons, though they are not admitting it. Financial instability, global warming, terrorism, etc. are cited as the reason to justify the political moves for using weather modification.

There are many times when conspiracy theories seem very silly or literally incorrect. But, it is these conspiracy theories that have a real strain on the thought and put a lot of people on analyzing why there is a conspiracy. Most of these theories challenge the basic science and this is the same that has come about in the case of Chemtrails to control the weather by man and machine. There are two main conspiracy theories that have come to light which suggests ha the weather is controlled by the United States Government. These are through HAARP technology and the other one is with the help of airplane to produce Chemtrails.
