About the Contributors
Graham Stuart Thomas Considered by many as the world's leading gardening writer. His books include: Perennial Garden Plants, and The Art of Planting. He has been awarded the O.B.E., V.M.H., D.H.M., and V.M.M., and is currently Gardens Consultant to the National Trust, England.
Andre Viette Highly respected author and lecturer; teaches several horticultural courses; recipient of many distinguished awards; owns a leading nursery which grows over 3,000 varieties of herbaceous perennials.
John Elsley Could be described as a "plant-hunter" lecturer; travels worldwide to search out promising new plants for Wayside Gardens and George W. Park Seed Company; radio and television appearances. Formerly botanist at the Royal Horticultural Society, Wisley Gardens; and curator of hardy plants at the Missouri Botanic Garden.
Dr. Lillian Eichelberger Cannon A medical researcher with an extensive list of scientific papers to her credit. An avid and knowledgeable gardener, she has written about what she owns and grows.
Harold Epstein Lecturer, author, editor, redpient of many distinguished service awards; has led horticultural travel groups for decades; has introduced many plants to North America from abroad; a long horticultural involvement, including President Emeritus of American Rock Garden Society.
Mabel Maria Herweg Experienced teacher of Japanese, Chinese and American flower-arranging at Arnold Arboretum, University of Rhode Island, Massachusetts Horticultural Society etc.; has spent years studying the art of Ikebana, Japanese flower arrangement and garden design in Japan; author of many articles on flower-arranging.
