WHY I WROTE THIS BOOK
I strongly believe in change, and not just that but a positive change. I believe that in my lifetime I could change the world for good and leave it better than I met it. But then I realized that the only way to effect a change in the world is to be the change you want to see in the world. I grew up in an average family where things were just normal, not poor and not rich. I grew and watched my father work so hard to see that the family does not suffer and that his children became the best at whatever they chose to do. But then I had a dream, a goal which was to liberate myself from lack and poverty and put me on the path of riches and wealth. So I set a goal to become the youngest millionaire in my family, to become a millionaire (in Dollars) at the age of 25. But something happened. Suddenly my goal had changed. While writing and researching on this book, I stumbled on a book titled 'Money Won't Make You Rich' by pastor Sunday Adelaja. It was as if I had never read any book in my life that was capable of changing my perspective about the subject of money and wealth. I used to think that having money in abundance would make you rich just like you're thinking right now, but then I realized that money won't make you rich, because it wasn't meant to do so. I realized that riches or wealth belongs to God and he entrust it with those who know the purpose of God's blessing and are ready to fulfill it. I realized that the main purpose of money is not just to make you rich or to meet your needs, but first to accomplish God's purposes on earth. I discovered that righteousness is true wealth, for it is the possession of God's character. I understood that God created money, just like all other things to serve His purposes. This was the beginning of a great change in my life. Also after reading ' Winning The War Against Poverty' by Bishop David Oyedepo, I was completely convinced that I needed to change my goal of becoming just a millionaire. He wrote, "You are not a millionaire because you have a million dollars, you are a millionaire by influencing a million people. Don't always focus on raising money, focus on raising and influencing people. Rather than live for money and position, start living for people". Immediately, I changed my goal from becoming a 'paper millionaire' to becoming a 'people millionaire'. I desire to raise and influence a million people to be millionaires through the insights and wisdom from this book. I desire to set millions of people free from the bondage of lack and poverty through the knowledge of the laws and principles of money and wealth creation, and the Godly wisdom to apply them to generate outstanding result. I have discovered that the singular difference between the rich and the poor is not a money gap but a knowledge gap. It may surprise you to know that only about 5 percent of the world's population has solid and correct information on how to get rich, while the other 95 percent remain hindered and enslave in ignorance.
In this 21st century, wealth is not just synonymous with the accumulation of money and all that money can buy; neither is poverty a lack of money or the things money can buy. The definitions have changed. In todays world, the rich man is not just the one with plenty of money and a poor man is not someone who lacks money. Rather, a rich man is someone who is rich in knowledge, in thought and in ideas; while a poor man is someone who is poor in knowledge, in thought and in ideas. When I say knowledge, this goes beyond getting a good education, as there are those who are well educated, with good grades and various degrees and are yet poor. This is because most educational institutions are designed to produce educated cheap laborers for the white collar jobs designed by the rich to create more wealth for themselves. (What we call The Conspiracy of the Rich).
Knowledge in this context refers to your financial aptitude - what you do with the money once you make it, how to keep it, how long you keep it, and how hard that money works for you. More money seldom solves our money problems, but financial intelligence does. To be the master of money, you need to be smarter than it by acquiring the right financial knowledge. Then money will do as it is told. It will obey you. Instead of being a slave to it, you will be the master of it. That is financial intelligence.
Poverty is synonymous with lack, not a lack of money but a lack of knowledge or activated thoughts called ideas. No tool is more beneficial than knowledge and no enemy is more harmful than ignorance. This is why knowledge remains the greatest and infallible asset of the rich, while ignorance is the greatest undoing of the poor. The rich have discovered that it takes power to get wealth, and since power is the result of applied knowledge; they do all they can, with what they have, where they are to acquire enough power by seeking relevant knowledge needed to create the kind of wealth they want. Little wonder the greatest asset of the rich is their library, while that of the poor is a television set. While a library is an asset that adds value and can generate multiple streams of ideas for wealth creation, your television set is a liability that you pay bills to maintain.
A Forbes magazine study found that 88% of millionaires and billionaires read 30 minutes or more each day. Unfortunately, the average or poor people constantly engage in the rat race - getting a good education, with a good grade well enough to secure a good job and save for retirement; but what a majority of the rich engage in is what I call the knowledge race. Not just the accumulation of knowledge but a commitment to a habit of a continuous lifelong learning. It may surprise you to know that the greatest undoing of the poor is ignorance which is a manifestation of mental laziness. Wealth answers to relevant knowledge and its application and not mere effort.
Black is not synonymous with lack and poverty is not a native of Africa as many believe. It is only a traveler that stays only where it is welcomed. How you welcome it is what determines how long it settles. Someone once said, Africa is not poor but poorly managed, but effective management is a function of the quality of knowledge at your disposal.
I wrote this book because I believe that NOW is the time for Africa to break free from lack and poverty and emerge as a prosperous and well sustained continent. There has probably never been a better time for you to achieve greater success, freedom, happiness, and financial independence than at this very moment. I am one of the few people who believe that writing can be an instrument for change, reformation and transformation.
This book is designed to bridge the knowledge gap between the rich and the poor by equipping individuals with the required knowledge of the financial laws and principles of money and wealth creation needed to break free from lack and poverty. As you read this book, I hope you will not just find information but a transformation will begin in your life.
