To girls who feel stuck in the middle

Thursday September 1 Hi God Ill get straight to the point Today was the - photo 4
Thursday, September 1

Hi, God,

Ill get straight to the point. Today was the WORST DAY EVER!

I got in trouble this morning when Mom saw my messy room. I forgot to pick up my dirty clothes from the floor, and it literally looked like a bomb went off. Mom yelled, Alexis Dawn Cooper, if you dont clean up your room this minute, youll be grounded for a month! Those were her exact words.

Then at school my friend Ellie practically told Justin that I had a crush on him! Can You believe it???

What made it worse was that Bianca found out. GRRR!!! Now she has more information she can use to embarrass me in front of the entire school. What can I say? Bianca doesnt call me Lexi the Loser for nothing. Ellie and Abby have been my only two friends since kindergarten.

So heres what happened, according to Abby.

Ellie handed Justin a note at recess that said,

Of course Bianca was standing by our locker when Justin handed the note back - photo 5

Of course, Bianca was standing by our locker when Justin handed the note back to Ellie. She waited until he walked away, then she whipped the note from Ellies hand.

When I showed up, Bianca tossed the note at me and said, Too bad. Justin must like blondes better. She flipped her long, blonde hair over her shoulder and strutted away.

I looked at the note... and about had a heart attack!

The good part is that Justin checked YES! The bad part is that he wrote as a friend next to it.

As I watched Bianca go down the hall, I thought about all kinds of mean things I wanted to do to her, like pull her perfectly shiny hair or call her something like Queen Wanna Bee, but instead I just stood there.

Abby leaned over and whispered, Bianca thinks she can say whatever she wants because shes the PD. (Thats our code for principals daughter.)

That may be true, but it didnt make me feel better.

Then Ellie said, Dont worry, there are TONS of other guys in middle school.

All I know is that Ive liked Justin since first grade when he shared his peanut butter and jelly sandwich with me. He even gave me one of his chocolate chip cookies. YUM!

But back to today...

During English class, Mrs. Anderson paired us off. We were supposed to write a short story about a real-life experience and read it to our partner. Guess who the teacher paired me up with? Yep, BIANCA TAYLOR!

I wrote about when I saved my little brother from having to visit the ER when he stuck a Lego up his nose. Thank goodness I was able to get it out using my moms eyebrow tweezers.

When it was time to read our stories, Bianca wanted to go first. She had written about the time when she was the princess in the school play and Justin was the prince. She went on and on about how they were the perfect royal couple. GAG!

Just because I have a major crush on Justin doesnt mean she has to like him too. Cuz when it comes right down to it, I know hed pick Bianca over me any day.

Heres why:

(I know I shouldnt compare, but I just cant help myself.)

See I dont have a chance Except Justin did say he was my friend and thats - photo 6

See? I dont have a chance.

Except Justin did say he was my friend, and thats better than nothing and more important, anyway.

Yeah, right!

Ive been avoiding Justin all day. I cant face him! And I dont know if Ill be able to all year.

Bianca, on the other hand, can stay as far away from me as possible.

Maybe I am a loser with a capital L.

Thank goodness You love me. Right?

Love, Lexi Picture 7

Dear Lexi,

Nothing can separate you from My love not death or life, not angels or demons, not your fears for today or your worries about tomorrow, not even the powers of hell. Not any power in the sky or on the earth or anywhere else in all creation. I love you with an everlasting love. (Romans 8:38-39; Jeremiah 31:3)

Love, God

When you compare yourself with others its easy to feel like you dont measure - photo 8

When you compare yourself with others, its easy to feel like you dont measure up. Youll always be able to find someone who you feel is better than you in some area. But God created you special and one-of-a-kind, and He loves you just the way you are with your unique looks, talents, and personality. Thats right, He likes your hair that way! He loves the shape of your nose, the color of your skin, and the sound of your laugh. You are made in Gods image, and you are exactly how He designed you to be.
