To begin, let me share a beautiful and intimate story:

It was early 1946. The big war had just ended and national pride was at an all-time high. The troops were finally coming home! Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy type music seemed to seep ceremoniously nonstop through the streets. Stanley J. Targosz, who was all of 25, could barely contain himself. He oozed excitement as he tripped up the porch steps to Helcias house. He had traveled the world over while serving our country, managed to handle numerous brutal battles of the war, and was even one of the few heroes to survive the landing on Iwo Jima, with the image of the raised flag forever cemented in his mind. None of those engaging life experiences could even come xvii close to his feelings for Helcia and the nervousness he felt over facing her that day. She was a beautiful, petite, 5' 2" strawberry blonde who held a spirit of fire, fun, and intelligence hidden beneath her fragile frame and dainty, quiet manner. He had been taken with her from the very moment when they had met four years earlier, just before he went into the service. Although they wrote to each other while he served our country, she kept him at bay. After all, a girl cant appear too available.
