    INTRODUCTION

By prevailing over all obstacles and distractions, one may unfailingly arrive at his chosen goal or destination.

    Christopher Columbus.

T he dismay on Annas face is evident. I dont know what to do anymore!

For the first time, Anna admits that she needs help. The Psychologist nods and assures her that everything will be fine.

Two days prior, Annas five-year-old son, Chris, was suspended from school. This was after a series of warnings concerning his apparent erratic behavior and poor performance. As the teacher noted, Chris was very disruptive. He was seemingly never interested in paying attention during studies, and his poor performance was proof.

Anna was not surprised. If anything, Chriss behavior was worse at home. Chris was messy, loud, and very unpredictable. One minute he would be enjoying a TV show and the next he would be trying to break everything around him. This behavior has cost Anna some of her friends, who think that her son is simply spoiled. That could not be further from the truth. Anna has tried her best. Now, her hope lies in the Psychologist.

Many miles away, in another continent, a young man called Abhay also has an appointment with his school Psychologist. Abhay is a 32-year-old art student at a local college. He is the oldest student in his class, but his performance is amongst the lowest. Abhay is failing, just like he has been all the previous semesters. Worse, he cannot seem to keep a job, and he still lives with his parents. Abhay is tired of feeling hopeless. He desperately needs help!

Chris and Abhay have a common mental disorder known as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). This disorder affects an estimated 6 million children and 10 million adults in the United States . The disorder is neurodevelopmental, which means that it disrupts memory, affects behavior, and impacts ones ability to learn. ADHD can be genetic or a factor of exposure to some toxins in the environment. However, most people develop it during the developmental stages of their early life.

ADHD has many retrogressive effects on people. In children, the inability to learn and improve cognitive development means that the children may miss out on developing their full potential. Most children have trouble learning due to their poor concentration, which affects their overall performance. In adults, education, relationships, and employment are often negatively impacted.

In the psychological evaluation, Abhay discloses that he has changed jobs more than ten times in the past three months. In seven, the decision was impulsive and unjustifiable. In the current workplace, he is on the verge of being fired. The boss has had it with his lateness, and the slow pace at which he completes tasks. His romantic life is also at a standstill. Three failed relationships crushed his self-esteem, and Abhay is no longer interested in falling in love. This can be very lonely, he admits.

Abhay is not alone. Adults with ADHD feel the full impact of an unbalanced life. The hopelessness that comes about with the disorder may be damaging if not managed early on. Consider the following statistics:

Depression is 2.7 times more prevalent amongst persons with ADHD than the rest of the population

14% of adults with ADHD have drug-related tendencies

60% of persons with ADHD have anxiety

Over 50% of Persons with ADHD have self-esteem issues

30% of adults with ADHD have chronic unemployment

These statistics do not have to represent you.

If you are an adult with ADHD or a parent of a child with ADHD, I have good news for you.

ADHD does not have to take over you, or your childs life.

Allow me to show you how to turn ADHD into a blessing.

My name is Madeline Holden. I am a 40-year-old wife and mother of two twins, Michael, and Charlize. I also have one adorable dog. Previously, I was a manager of a multinational company. However, after losing my husband at a young age, I was crushed by stress and the consequent psychological and physical problems. During my healing journey, I devoted myself to the well-being of the mind and body. Gradually, I became an expert in nutrition, mental health, and mindfulness. I eventually gave up my well-paying job with guaranteed earnings to pursue mindfulness full time.

In the course of my career, I have studied mental health disorders extensively. I have also collaborated with physicians and researchers, and conducted in-depth analysis on real clients with mental disorders. The data collected has enabled me to devise strategies and mechanisms proven to help people with ADHD. All my work is backed up by science, and the results have been incredible!

ADHD does not have to be a weakness. What if I told you that it could potentially be your greatest strength?

This book offers an array of proven strategies and lifestyle hacks that will help you thrive with ADHD. I shall take you through the scientific basis of the disorder, various assessments, and give you tools that will help you deal with your unique situation.
