Biographical notes
Debbie Watson is a Senior Lecturer in Childhood Studies at the University of Bristol (School for Policy Studies) and an experienced secondary school teacher. She manages the BSc (Hons) programme in Childhood Studies and teaches across a range of child- and familyrelated topics. Her research interests are in social and emotional wellbeing for children and, specifically, the role of staff in schools in supporting children and young people, as well as theorising difference and diversity. She has managed research projects exploring the provision of learning support in schools and supporting families and children in childrens centres, and consulted on a project for the Welsh Assembly Government (with Carl Emery) theorising and capturing non-academic achievements for young people in Wales. She is also part of an international team developing a postgraduate programme on child rights and public policy in Egypt and Jordan.
