CHAPTER ONE
Introduction
LIFE ITSELF IS ALL about creativity, and you probably stumbled upon this book because you have creative urges of your own -- some fulfilled and others completely hidden away!
I love to write. It's fun! And I truly want to help you on your path to becoming a full-fledged writer. So the way I see it, we are crossing PATHS at the perfect time!
Seriously, writing is amazing.
I love the fact that there are readers (like you!) who read my thoughts and ideas in these pages. I love it when readers really connect with my ideas, my worlds, my characters, and my storytelling. I love it when I complete a project, get it published, feel the sense of accomplishment, and then start to (almost immediately) look forward to the next one!
But honestly, I write mostly for me.
I love the creativity that's required. It's fun to tell stories, and my writing gives me exciting goals of finishing, publishing, and launching my work out into the world!
I have a fulfilling sense of completeness with each project, and I love all the aspects of crafting my story. Then, if they are read by ten people, one hundred people, a thousand readers -- it doesn't really matter.
It's 95% for me!
So writing romance is something you really should do for yourself! This beginner's guide to writing and publishing a great romance novel ebook is about writing that book FOR YOU. YES! YES! YES!
Here's why:
If you enjoy reading romance books, and often daydream about your own stories, your own characters, and your own scenarios, relationships, and the possible twists and turns, then you really should EXERCISE your creativity and write a romance ebook.
Storytelling is the HEART of what we do, and everyone has the ability to tell a story! I truly believe that.
The best part is that it's easy, low cost (sometimes even very close to free!), and the new work can easily be published under a pen name if you're shy, private, or trying to remain discreet.
If you're looking for a way to have fun (and possibly to make extra money working from home) then realize that ebooks are really exploding in popularity. Imagine that many of those millions of Kindle, Android, iPad/iPhone, Blackberry, Mac, and PC users are searching, buying, downloading, and reading ebooks every day, then you'll get some idea how big this market is.
Then consider all of the people who will soon discover the power of e-readers. I believe that the portability, the ease of purchase, and more will continue to expand this digital INDIE publishing revolution.
This is your chance to create a BODY OF WORK - one story at a time -- to take advantage of all those tablets, ebook readers, and smartphones around the world. (My latest ebook was available for sale in twelve countries within 24 hours!)
And you'll find that entering this global publishing market is actually easier than you thought!
If you're already a writer and just looking for a new genre and outlet for your work, I recommend romance books because they are an immensely popular and TIMELESS category.
There will always be a need for new stories, fresh characters, great romances, and tantalizing situations. The personal challenge of writing these stories can be fun, sexy, and very cool -- and the wide range of romance ebook sub-genres will continue to stimulate your best ideas.
I want you to be excited about this.
If you have already tried to write a book or novel, and couldn't finish or couldn't get published (traditionally or otherwise), I include some keys to reshaping that work, rewriting, and indie-publishing very quickly.
But I also want to share an easy way to just start FRESH. I want you to LOVE the blank page or the flashing CURSOR on your computer.
I'm here to tell you that you CAN write a great romance ebook, and that you really SHOULD write a romance ebook!
(And once you start on this path, you'll probably write several!)
So, thank you so much for getting this ebook! Let's get started.
CHAPTER TWO
Why Did I Write This?
LET ME FIRST SAY that I decided to write this book because I consider myself a little bit of an amateur "life coach." (BTW, I put that in quotes in respect to those peeps who ACTUALLY do that for a living. Don't worry, I'm busy writing my next book!)
So what do I mean by amateur life coach?
Well, I'm that friend, relative, BFF, co-worker, or colleague who always tells you to "GO FOR IT" when you have a great idea.
When someone tells me they want to start a new business, begin to film a documentary, record a new original song, take an oil painting class, learn a foreign language and then travel -- I always say "YES, that's a great idea! You should definitely pursue that!" And I mean it.
You name it. Crafts, poetry, sculpture, watercolors, computer programming, whatever -- we all need to keep learning fresh new things in our lives, and to continue to NURTURE our creativity.
