From the well-known health and lifestyle coaches of the widely popular website Lean Healthy Ageless (formerly Ageless Woman Living) comes a practical, science-based diet book that unravels the mystery of why women gain weight as they age and includes a sustainable plan to permanently lose the pounds and inches.
Eat, Live, Thrive Diet shows women how they can not only lose excess body fat permanently but also improve their overall health in critical areas such as brain function, resistance to disease, slowing down external aging, and increasing energy.
This highly effective eating plan is presented in a compassionate voice by two experienced health coaches who share personal experiences of battling weight and emotional eating issues. Whereas most diets are short-lived or require substantial upkeep to maintain, Eat, Live, Thrive Diet is a viable eating plan that women can adhere to indefinitely.
In addition to minimizing sugar intake, the plan emphasizes the importance of short-term intermittent fasting--a simple lifestyle change that makes it easier and more effective for many mature women to reach their health and weight loss goals. The book also highlights health risks and drawbacks of many popular fad diets that can be harmful on a long-term basis.

Acknowledgments

First and foremost, we want to thank our Lord and Savior, Jesus, for the inspiration and motivation to write this book. It started as an outflow from a podcast about a gentle cleansing/detox regime. From there, it morphed into a complete diet and lifestyle plan as the women we coached realized fantastic results.

In the ever-changing world of nutrition, it is challenging to discern fact from fiction, and positive trends from passing fads. A registered dietician with a masters and PhD as well as other specialty certifications too numerous to name, Patti Milligan has been a generous friend and consultant to us throughout the journey of writing this book. Her broad scope of knowledge and balanced approach to nutrition helped us ensure that our diet recommendations and philosophies were sound. Plus, Patti has a unique approach that causes people to celebrate nutritious food without sacrificing a fully satisfying taste-bud celebration.

Mark Stengler, NMD, is a brilliant practitioner who stays on top of the most reliable studies and best practices in natural medicine. We are thankful for his willingness to be available at a moments notice to provide accurate and credible science to support many references in this book. We also appreciate how he has graciously educated us over the years in our own health journeys. His wise guidance has given us confidence to continue to pursue health in the most natural ways possible. It is a breath of fresh air to have a doctor who is willing to listen to our countless questions and comments about the female body, hormones, and aging with great understanding and a sense of humor when needed. We are blessed to have him as our personal doctor, adviser, and friend.

Our sincere thanks to Victoria Bowmann, PhD, for spending time with us on the phone and in video-chat sessions to answer many questions about the complexity of the digestive system. It is a topic that many people arent always comfortable discussing. Victoria makes it easy to ask very direct, descriptive questions without embarrassment and provides clear and easy-to-understand and sometimes humorous answers. Her knowledge and approach made it easy for us to not only digest complex topics and write about them in a way that women can understand but also appreciate why these issues are so essential to total health.

We all need mentors and experts who not only encourage us but also tell us the truth. We love that our agent, Steve Laube, tells it like it is. If an idea is great, he is all over it. If its not, he is the first to give us a kind (and often humorous) reality check. We are also thankful that he is so well respected in the industry that relative unknowns such as us can get our best ideas in front of great publishers. We are already looking forward to our next project with you, Steve!

We are so jazzed that God gave us the ultimate publishing dream team. We are grateful that Laura Barker saw something intriguing in our book and knew that Susan Tjaden would be a fantastic fit as our senior editor. We personally clicked from our first conversation and have been blown away by her enthusiasm and support throughout our journey. As she introduced us to other dynamic ageless women who shared her enthusiasm at WaterBrookGinia Hairston Croker, Lisa Beech, and Ingrid Beckwe realized that we could not have hand selected a more perfect group of women to champion this project. A thank-you also to Anita Palmer for her insightful edits and revisions. Helen Macdonald, we appreciated your grace and patience guiding us through the final typesetting and edits on our tight deadline. And a special thanks to Tina Constable, who nudged us to keep working until we found just the right title to describe the true experience and result we hope women will enjoy.

Last and certainly not least, we want to thank our husbands (Lew Boore and Rob Thomson) for their unwavering support of our commitment to encouraging women in their quests for healthier bodies and more balanced lifestyles. We realize that our tight deadline on this book cut into a lot of our personal family time. Your patience and belief in us mean more than you can know.

And to you, our reader, we truly do want you to eat, live, and thrive in ways that ensure you realize your best body and health, no matter your age!
