Acknowledgments

It takes many people to put a book together, and although as authors we dedicate an enormous amount of time to write the book, it would never be published without the dedication and hard work of many other people.

First, I would like to thank Kenyon Brown, my acquisitions editor, who convinced me that I could do this and stuck with me throughout the process. Without Ken as a mentor and guide, I could never have pulled this one off. I am thankful that Ken was there to lead me though the sometimes-confusing world of publishing a book like this.

I would also like to thank Todd Lammle for his help in transforming this network engineer into an inspired author and for being a new friend in the small world inside the big data centers.

I can never thank my development editor, Gary Schwartz, enough. Gary stuck with me, patiently guiding me though the process and providing me with the direction I needed when I was off in a ditch again. Without Gary's help, putting this book together would have been much more difficult. Thanks again, Gary!

A big thank you to Christine O'Connor, my production editor, for lending a guiding hand in the process of publishing this book. I am still amazed at how her team could take my work and transform it into a presentable book. I'm sure that there is a whole team at Wiley lurking in the background who will never know how much they really helped, but to the whole team at Wiley, a big thank you! You made the late nights and long weekends of writing all worthwhile.

Of course, Mark Dittmer at Cisco Systems Professional Services was an excellent technical editor, and he was always there to clarify and add his deep insight into the Cisco data center products to this effort. Mark, I owe you!
