About the Book
In his twenties, David Manners travels to the Himalayas to fulfil a promise and seek out his relatives. Yet a chance encounter sets him on a quest to a greater discovery, to the mountainside temple of a Nepalese shaman.
This is the remarkable true story of Davids initiation into the Tradition, a life-affirming path that is many centuries old. Here, David shares the practical philosophy of his jhankri, Kushal Magar, the wise man who becomes his mentor and his friend, in the hope that we, too, may benefit.
Through a challenging series of tests, Kushal Magar teaches David how to concentrate the mind and focus the will, how to live fully, fearlessly and joyfully with purpose and how to acquire self-knowledge without self-interest.
Those who choose this little known skilful path must reconsider who they believe themselves to be; for, as David learns, the Tradition changes lives forever...
