ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

I have many people to thank for their help with my 16 th and final book. First, my thanks to Lucas Kim and my assistant Nina Moskaliuk for helping to type the Manuscript. Usually Nina does most of the work but this time she had to bow out after the first chapter due to the Coronavirus Pandemic.

Mere words are inadequate to express my appreciation to my three readers/editors, Kent Hotaling, Larry Farquharson, and Noel Cooper, for examining the manuscript with their very sharp eyes. The number of additions, deletions and good ideas they presented would require a calculator to record, not to mention typos and spelling errors. I am deeply grateful to each one of them.

My friend, editor and publisher Kris Millegan deserves a bow of appreciation for recognizing the urgency of getting the subject matter of the book into the public domain and for making the miracle happen.

Beatrice Bussiere Shilton earned great praise for producing the drawings in Chapters 1 and 2 under the pressure of great time constraints. Thank you Bea.

My most profound debt is to Sandras nephew Peter Meades who has been living at our place while waiting for recall to his job. Peter was aware of my desperation and filled the breech. His nimble fingers typed most of the manuscript, and his quick mind was responsible for most of the research. Without Peter, there would be no book!

Last, but certainly not least I want to thank my wife Sandra for her patience and understanding this fourth and final time. She will have another star in her crown in heaven.

DISCLOSURE

N ormally a book begins with a brief introduction, but this one is different. I am 97 years old in August 2020. This is almost certainly my last book. Consequently I feel a moral obligation to share some of the information that I have discovered beginning in 2005 that I have labelled The Broader Reality. I warn you that some of it sounds stranger than Science Fiction but I can assure you that to the best of my knowledge every word is the truth.

Until early in the 21 st century I was unaware that we Earthlings were not alone. It is true that when I was Minister of National Defence for Canada I received UFO sighting reports. I was too busy unifying the Canadian Navy, Army, and Air Force into a Canadian Defence Force that I didnt pay much attention to them. About 80% of the sightings could be explained as natural phenomena with the balance being Unidentified Flying Objects in the literal sense, hence UFOs.

In 2003 a young bilingual chap from Ottawa, Pierre Juneau, began sending me information about UFOs that I told him I was too busy to read. He was very patient and suggested that I just put it on a shelf for a rainy day. He urged me to watch an ABC Special by Peter Jennings that included testimony by retired USAF pilots, commercial airline pilots, air traffic controllers, police officers and others who all claimed that they had seen UFOs. I couldnt fathom any reason why they would go on air and say that they had seen one or more UFOs if it were not the truth.

It was a book that Pierre sent me which finally convinced me. It was entitled The Day After Roswell, by Lt. Col. Philip Corso, a retired U.S. Army Intelligence officer. It looked intriguing but it wasnt until the summer of 2005 when I got around to reading it. I realized it was real, and had that fact confirmed by a retired USAF general who said every word is true and more. The more included the fact that there had been face to face meeting between U.S. officials and visitors from other star systems.

I decided to accept an outstanding invitation to speak at a symposium Victor Vigiani and Mike Bird were holding at Convocation Hall at the University of Toronto on September 25 th because I thought that U.S. taxpayers and, indeed, everyone in the world had the right to know what was going on because the stakes were so high. I was the last speaker after Stanton Freedman, Richard Dolan and Stephen Bassett, all distinguished ufologists. Following a few preliminary remarks, I said, UFOs are as real as the airplanes flying overhead.

This gave me the dubious distinction of being the first person of cabinet rank in what was then the G8 group of countries to state categorically, without any reservations that UFOs are real. I had promised my fianc, Sandra Bussiere, the widow of my best friend ever who had agreed to marry me one week later on October 1, 2005, that the speech would be a one off affair. I couldnt possibly have been more wrong. Documents both classified and unclassified arrived from several jurisdictions, dozens of books came in the mail and I eventually read every one of them. Experts wanted to brief me and I soon found myself launched on a new career of examination and discourse which would change my life forever and obligate me to share my seemingly incredible conclusions.

I am putting in two facts to give you a glimpse of the Broader Reality.

On February 2, 1961, an armada of about 50 UFOs flew south from Russia and then turned around and headed for the North Pole just in time to avoid the panic button being pushed by the headquarters of the Supreme Headquarters of the Allied Powers in Europe (SHAPE) which might have triggered another world war. Once the crisis was recognized as a false alarm, SHAPE ordered an investigation into the UFO phenomenon that was titled An Assessment: An Evaluation of a Possible Military Threat to Allied Forces in Europe , and written over a three-year period from 1961-1964. The conclusions of the study were earth-shattering. The authors determined, with absolute certainty, that we have been actively visited by representatives of at least four extraterrestrial civilizations for thousands of years.
