It All Starts Here
Y ou are about to embark on an exciting journey. A journey that will last a whole year and hopefully a lifetime.
I cant promise you its going to be easy. I cant promise that you will always like the thoughts, feelings and revelations that come to the surface as you start to understand more about your face, mind, body and soul. But this is what I can promise you: by this time next year, you will be proud of what you have achieved. You will love that your skin looks healthy and glowing. Most importantly, you will have to hand a toolbox of techniques for a firm, lifted face, a calmer mind and a more balanced body which you can use for life.
But I can only promise you this if you show up every day. Even the days when you are busy, or when you feel tired, down or fed up, or when you feel like its not worth the effort and you have zero motivation. All you need to commit to is 2 minutes per day. You can do more, of course (and I would highly recommend that you do), but when you really cant manage any more, 2 minutes is perfect.
Of course, its inevitable you will miss some days, weeks or months. If this is the case, just pick up exactly where you left off and know thats really okay!
Lets do this together. This year, you have me by your side every single day.
The eBook
Welcome to the e-book version of The Face Yoga Journal . There are two ways you can start your journey:
- Fill out the journal prompts in a new notebook (ideally lined). You will use this daily so choose one that brings you joy.
- Print out the handout we have provided at the following website and fill out the prompts: https://we.tl/t-G7kEsHaWgF
Over the next 52 weeks this book will prompt you to start the week by writing a positive word, the way you want to feel and your reason for doing Face Yoga. At the end of the week you will be prompted to write what went well and what didnt go so well. If youre writing in a notebook, simply write the week number and follow the journal prompts. I talk more about what these prompts are and what to write on .
My why
So why have I written this journal?
Well, lets start with the big why. This is my reason for all I do. When I was 21, I suffered from the chronic illness ME, which left me bedridden and housebound for the large part of 18 months. It was equally the worst and best time of my life. It was lonely, dark and painful. But it was also transformative. I not only transformed from a stressed-out and chronically ill patient to a fully recovered and healed human, but I also gained a deep purpose to help others. During those long days of pain, I remember clearly saying to myself that when I recover from this, I will make it my lifes work to help others heal. I didnt know exactly how I would do it but I knew that was all I wanted. Even to this day, the reason I teach, write and share daily is because I know there are so many people who want to feel healthier and happier. Helping, healing and teaching is my soul purpose or, as its so beautifully called in yoga, my dharma.
Okay, now lets delve in to the why of The Face Yoga Journal. I was lying in the bath one day thinking how wonderful Face Yoga and simple daily wellness rituals are, yet we often dont stick to them or do them enough. As I thought about the reasons for this, which I have heard from my clients in my clinics, classes, presentations and teacher trainings, as well as from the millions of people who enjoy The Danielle Collins Face Yoga Method online, I managed to compile (once I was out the bath!) seven key reasons.
Lack of time. This is the main reason that people give for not doing daily Face Yoga or self-care. We live in a fast-paced world where it is so easy to put everything and everyone else first. This journal is designed to help you even if time is short. All you need to dedicate to yourself is 2 minutes minimum a day. Each week you are given a new Face Yoga move that takes 1 minute, and then you can spend your second minute on a wellness technique, such as setting an intention or your gratitude practice. Ideally, you spend a few more minutes (probably around 5) on a Monday and Sunday filling in your weekly activities. My hope is you will notice how amazing you look and feel by taking just 2 minutes each day, and quickly you will realize that spending around 30 minutes a day on Face Yoga and wellness will really help you to feel your best.
