It is a dire time.

The Jedi Master Mara Jade Skywalker is dead, killed by an assassins toxic dart. Abandoning patience and meditation, Luke Skywalker, Maras husband and current head of the Jedi Order, confronted and killed the primary suspect, Lumiya, the self-proclaimed Dark Lady of the Sith. Afterward, Luke learned that Lumiyas confirmed movements precluded her from being the assassin. Now focus has shifted to the former Jedi Knight Alema Rar, a possible apprentice of Lumiya. While it remains conceivable that Lumiya was an accomplice in Maras death, the possibility of her innocence has further devastated Luke and divided the Jedi Order.

All Jedi feel the loss of Mara Jade Skywalker, but we are not united by grief. Recent events involving our role in Galactic Alliance policy have prompted many Jedi to question the fabric of our Order, which is strong enough to be considered a threat by outside factions, yet so delicate that it can still be torn from within. Suspicions have led to accusations, and guilt has mixed with anguish to poison our spirits. Despite all the battles that weve fought and won, it seems our greatest enemy isand always has beenourselves.
